Didn't get a Combo Interview

Hi everyone,

I applied for citizenship based on a 3 year rule, I am still waiting for a 10 year green card, for which I applied a year ago, in July of 2021.

I just had my citizenship interview today and I passed, however, they told me they can't do a Combo Interview because they don't have access to my I-751 case.

so I basically I won't get my citizenship until my second green card is approved.

Did anyone have this experience? Am I just stuck waiting for the second green card indefinitely?

I kept hearing stories of people getting combo interviews and it makes me so disappointed that I didn't get it.

Please share your experiences!

I have heard of this loads of times

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

OK.  Thanks.  I'm sorry that you will have to wait. I just don't understand why they can't look ahead and get the I-751 records they need.  Doesn't make sense to me.

we had combo interview and I-751 applied in August 2020, officer approved without asking too many questions, my spouse passed the interview but then physical presence days were not enough so declined N-400, refiled again same day, now waiting for N-400 interview again, in most cases they have I-751 application on the interview day.

I am sorry this happened to you. I can not imagine USCIS calling you back for I-751 interview.  My guess is they will waive interview and approve you.

In most cases, those who don't get combo interviews eventually get their I-751 approved within a few days to a couple of months. Essentially, the completion of the N400 forces USCIS to pull the I-751 and work on it instead of it languishing and collecting dust.

Thank you, I really hope so!

Hi, it was very easy. They asked me questions from the civics test, once I answered 6 right it was over. Then they asked me to say, read and write one sentence “we have 100 Senators” or something like that. Then asked a few questions confirming my name, date of birth, my travel within the last few years outside of US. And then a few easy yes or no questions. That’s about it.
