You will get a email from the NVC where you will go and upload all your documents, wait to get them approved( Become Documentary Qualified), then get an interview scheduled at your local consulate, attend interview, hopefully get visa in passport, then travel to US. If you just got approval from USCIS, you still have 6 plus months of things to do. I think this is where you are based on your post. Just got approval from USCIS.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

2 to 3 weeks. I would say a month at the most. Some people get them, some don't.  It seems to be hit or miss.

How can a person find out if NVC have received their case? I got a letter saying that my case approved and being sent to Department of state. That was Oct 14th and i havent heard anything else. What do i do next can i enquire abt it?

The only way to contact the NVC is through the public inquiry form and it takes them weeks to answer. As advised above already, you will have to wait for them to contact you with the welcome letter.

They should do that after they receive the approved petition and after they have logged your case into their system.  I doubt an email will get that done any faster.

Online it says that NVC is now working on petitions received from USCIS since Oct.24th. If mine was sent on the day of approval then they should be working on mine. Right?

Where did you read that? That’s not what it says:

Current case creation time frame: As of 31-Oct-22, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 30-Sep-22.

Once USCIS sends your I-797 approval notice, they will send your approved petition to the National Visa Center (NVC) for processing. At NVC, we will create your visa case and enter the data from your petition into the system.

After creating your case, we will send you instructions for processing, as well as a Welcome Letter that includes your Case Number and Invoice ID. You will use these numbers to log into our Consular Electronic Application Center (https://ceac.state.gov).
