My son who holds a British passport,was denied entry because his passport was expired . What needs to be done to be able to get a Esta visa in the future .

I don't think anything can be done.  According to that letter, he has lost ESTA privileges in the future.......He will have to apply for a B2 to visit...

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

He was young and dumb. Isn't there a way to apply for it to be re-instated ?

He no longer qualifies for ESTA.....

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

No, immigration-related records are forever. ESTA is already a "lenient" program to allow tourism/visit privileges to foreigners from eligible countries. If you don't follow the rules, you lose the privilege and must seek other options. In this case, B2 tourist visa is the only way.

Why would that make a difference?  He can apply, but he will be denied since he must answer all questions truthfully......He has been denied entry.  The letter is directed at HIM....not a specific passport.

His denial of entry record will remain, regardless of which passport he uses to apply.  Besides, CBP should already know of all his citizenships anyway, as he was required to list them when he previously applied for ESTA.

I missed the original attachment with info. How old was he? Over 18?

 

Surprised the airline let him board with an expired passport - sure they paid for that error.

He can apply with it but he still has to disclose this incident. Remember lying on US immigration forms (including online ESTA applications) can lead to a permanent ban.

If they got as far as denial and a letter  they’ll surely have his biometrics too.
