Hi everyone,

I would like to travel abroad 2 months before my Conditional green card expires (marriage based). I will file for removal of conditions on my GC a month before the travel date. My question is can I travel while my removal of conditions is pending ? Or do I have to wait for the USCIS to send me anything before I can go ? (When I get back my Conditional GC will still be unexpired)

Thanks for your help !

Yes, you can travel. My husband's ROC has been pending for over a year and we just came back from a six week trip abroad with no issue. If your card expires, make sure you have your extension letter with you just in case. Have fun!

Are you using your gc as a visa waiver for your destination country?

The gc isn’t expiring while OP is traveling so no need to bring extension letter.

For this trip you do not have to worry since your physical CGC will not be expired when you return.  However, you can also travel while your ROC is pending with an expired CGC and a valid extension letter you will receive after filing the ROC.  Keep in mind, even though you file the ROC, you do not lose your LPR status, just the proof of that status is expired.  When you do get your extension letter, make a few copies of it and mark the original inconspicuously on the back as you need the original watermarked letter when returning to the US and sometimes airline employees want to keep a copy.  Keep in mind, even though you filed the

You can travel and re-enter the US on any date prior to the expiration of your green card (either the date printed on the card or 24 months later with receipt of the extension letter).
