Thank you! So are they going to use the old biometrics?

Idk if biometrics are valid for 3 years. Let more experienced folks answer.

Yes! Celebrate too pls. Vawa is an emotionally wrecking journey and approval means a lot to folks like ourselves who went through it.

I have some here that I'm spilling on top of my joke list, which worked again. :P

Super news -- congratulations.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Do you know the wait time for the gc card delivery in NYC :) ? @Demise @Stillwinning!!!😊

It'll probably take like a week or two for them to print it, then priority shipping from Kentucky to NY will be like 3-4 days.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

I have a question in regard to looking up the case status using a receipt number.

My sister is currently applying for a VAWA green card. It's really a bogus case. She never experienced any sort of abuse. She came to the USA as a tourist, got married to a man 30 years older than her, and the man never applied for a green card so she's been without papers for 15 years. Three years ago they divorced, no children. She does not want to go back to her home country so she's claiming he abused her. No police records, no evidence of abuse, never mentioned it to anyone. I know my sister and she didn't experience any sort of abuse. She's a habitual liar and will say anything to get her way.

I look at women who have truly been abused and it sickens me to see my sister take advantage of the VAWA application and make the process longer for others who have really been abused.

Anyway my father has been bankrolling her since the divorce. At first she was able to work (she never did but had the paper) however she doesn't have that permission any longer. She keeps telling my father that it will just be a little bit longer until her green card is approved.

My father wanted to see proof of the case status so he wanted her to show the status of the case using the receipt number. My sister said this isn't possible since it was privacy protection against the abuser. The only want to look the case up is to go to a government office and access it through there. My sister said that even she can't look up the status online using the receipt number. The lawyer has said the same thing.

The lawyer is charging $6000 for the service. I'm a bit skeptical they are doing things correctly.

My question is: under any circumstance is it not possible to look up the status online using the receipt number? And the only want to go this is to goto the government office and access it in person?

It is possible to check the case status online and we all do.

of course - but would there be any circumstances where it wouldn't be possible?

she's told us it's VAWA but it isn't possible "because of protection from the abuser"...this is what the lawyer has told her. I really think she believes its not possible.

Yes you can. You should probably let your lawyer know just so you're on the same page but you don't have to.

Thanks for your response. My lawyer used her office address as safe address for my mails. My notices has been going to her office address. What do I do pls? Can I still file the I 485 with just my address?

It is impossible to get the information about the case over the phone.

However, if you have a receipt number you can check the status online or if you need information then your attorney has to write to Vermont or you can involve senator/ congress person.

Hey vj family. My ead expired two weeks ago and applied for an extension since June 2021. I went to DMV to get a temporary driving privilege but they took all my paper work and sent them to immigration for verification before issuing me a driving privilege document to drive with. But it has been two weeks USCIS hasn't responded to them, I'm stuck and i cannot drive to go work (im working with an extension 180 days on the receipt notice). What should I do? My ead is based on pending asylum and i have i360 pending

It happened to me but my took 16 days to be Verified my document. ( homeland security ) Maybe depends where you live. After that process, they should send a letter to your mailing address. I just got email because my license also will be expired in 2 months
