It is Wednesday, and therefore time for our Semiweekly Semiofficial VAWA-Thread Joke, practically guaranteed (that is, if correlation = causation) to evoke approvals and positive progress:

==================================

DOUBLE THE TROUBLE

A woman's husband cheated on her.  They divorced, and the woman went on with her life, hating her ex-husband.

One day, she found a beautiful lamp tossed in the street.  She picked it up and rubbed it.  A genie popped out of the lamp and said, "I feel that you are married.  I will grant you one wish, but know this: anything that you ask, your husband will get as well, only double!"

The woman thought and thought.  If she wished to be rich, her ex-husband would become twice as rich.  If she wished to be beautiful, her ex-husband would become twice as handsome.  She finally came to a decision.

"I want you to scare me half to death!"

:P

Epic 🤣

I sent my EAD renewal more than one year ago , on sept 2020 and still waiting. I applied for vawa on November 2019 and still waiting as well.

Anyone in the same situation?

I applied in December 2019. So far three PFs.

I received 2 EAD already. I just send renewal package 2 weeks ago. I have not received receipts notices yet.

Don’t stress about it dear. The 3 P’s work wonders: Prayer, Patience,Perseverance.
Very soon we will be celebrating your approval!

Just keep yourself busy. God knows that was the only thing that kept most of us sane. Otherwise I would have gone bonkers had work not kept me

on my toes.

That reply you were given is a pretty standard template copy pasted by some lazy officer who had nothing much to say other than your case is still pending. Besides they will RFE before denial if at all, and many times the RFE’s are easy like good moral character certificate or shared residence.

Thank you so much for that. It’s been crazy. But school keeps me busy, so I appreciate that a little bit.

Hello my VJ Family,

I am here for a friend, he need to expedite his work authorization. Is Form I-907 the right form to fill?

Please help .

Thanks

The I-907 form is use to request premium processing only for forms I-140 and I-129. This cannot be use to make an expedite request for EAD

To request your pending EAD case to be expedite contact your congressman to request it on your behalf include your evidence (employer letter, medicals bills, job offer etc) You can also make an expedite request by writing a letter with a copy of your ID and copy of your EAD receipt, directly to Vermont Service Center also include all the expediting evidence you have, but this rarely works they usually do not answer or follow up to the directly expediting request applicants make in writing. Best way is thru congress office.

Good evening

I’ve been waiting 29 months for approval of i360, I’ve got someone who wants to help me with some money so I can file my green card and an EAD in C9. Truth is I do not know how to start.
Do I have to just go online and print the documents?
what documents do I add to it when filling.
I am not including my lawyer because I can’t afford his fees.
what can I do?

Thank you 🙏🏾

Hi all, pls I have a question. I am 2021 filer. When I did, my lawyer told me I couldn’t file concurrently bcos my abuser never filed for me. She said only those with pending cases at immigration call file concurrently.

Now reading from this forum, I realized I could have done that since my ex is a citizen.
my question now is can I still go ahead and file I 485 and I 765? Also I have 2 kids (not with my abuser) who are here with me. Can I also file the I 485 for them too? Or I have to wait till my Vawa is approved? I’ll really appreciate your responses.

Hi All,

I filed I-360 in Aug 2020 and had received prima facie in Oct 2020 for an year, which expired on Oct 16 2021. I have not received automatic renewal and that is my understanding from reading the other posts. Is there chance of not receiving again or is a delay normal? Anything I should be doing? I will check with my attorney, but she would hardly respond to my queries so was seeking help here. Thank you

Hi, did you receive work authorization yet? I filled oct 2020 I got PF in January 2021 but till now no work permit.

Yes you can file i485 and i765 along with i131 (advance parole petition) even if you didn't do so concurrently with I360. I filed I485 a few months after i360, received c9 EAD and AP based on the i485 as well. I am not 100 percent sure about the children - but I think you should be able to file for your children as well. @Demise can you please confirm this?

Divorced US citizen spouse in December 2017.

Filed I-360 on Nov 12, 2019

Filed I485/ C31 EAD / AP in Feb 2020 (Stupid lawyer filed C31 instead of C9, and I didnt know EAD codes, didnt know about this VJ forum either)

On H1b status since 2014, H1b 6 years expired in May 2020. Out of status / Period of authorized stay since then.

Amended EAD petition to C9 and filed expedite request for same in mid-may 2020.

C9 EAD approved June 4, 2020.

Biometrics done in Oct 2020.

I485 case transferred to NBC for "faster processing" on September 30, 2020

Filed C9 EAD / AP Renewal petition in February 2021.

Initial Advance Parole (from Feb 2020 application) approved in June 2021.

C31 EAD production update - Nov 1st, 2021.

C31 card delivered to attorney's office on Nov 8, 2021.

I-360 case approved status update - Nov 22, 2021.

No RFE throughout.

Senator's office confirmed via congressional inquiry that the St. Louis office has received the I485 file and is currently awaiting interview scheduling - March 7, 2022

C9 EAD renewal card production case update - July 20, 2022 (took them just 17 months to process)

C9 EAD / AP renewal approval case update on both cases on July 21, 2022.

Combo card delivered to attorney's office on July 27, 2022

Medical exam RFE Drama: Second congressional inquiry sent in early July 2022 for I485. USCIS responded on 8/12/22 to this congressional inquiry that they issued an RFE on 5/24/22 and were waiting for my response. My lawyer denied receiving RFE and there was no such update on online USCIS portal. Lawyer's old firm was safe mailing address on my case. Lawyer changed firms a year after I hired her but did not change mailing address for my case with USCIS, she said she had a deal with her old firm to forward all her clients' mail to her new firm. Old firm denied receiving RFE. Sent another congressional inquiry requesting copy of RFE on 8/17/22. I also got medical exam done on 8/17/22 as I assumed RFE was for medical exam (thanks for this forum's insights.) Yelled at lawyer and threatened her with dire consequences. On 8/18/22 my lawyer's old firm finally found scanned copy of RFE in their "archived scans" (whatever the duck that is) and emailed it to me. It was indeed RFE requesting medical exam. On 8/20/22 I mailed medicals sealed packet with copy of RFE to St. Louis field office. Also sent a notarized letter with the packet - updating safe mailing address to my home address and informing St. Louis field office that I fired my lawyer. Sent similar letter to Vermont Service Center on the same date.

8/23/22 - Fedex confirmed delivery of medicals packet to St. Louis Field Office.

8/26/22: Case update on I485: New Card Is Being Produced

8/29/22:  On August 29, 2022, we approved your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS

9/3/22 green card delivered to attorney's office (they didn't change safe mailing address despite my written requests to FO AND VSC.)

9/6/22 VSC returned AR11 and my letter requesting safe mailing address change. In their letter they said something to the effect of "you can do this online, we wont do it via snail mail request etc." Just posting as an FYI, its weird. Also received I485 approval notice on the same date.

Yes. Your I-485 can be filed together with the I-360, while the I-360 is pending, or after I-360 is approved. Same applies to the children, only limitation is that the children cannot file before you, so they can file with you or after you.

Hey guys i have a question, i just applied for VAWA in Aug 2021 and my lawyer and I didn’t send all necessary documents because i had some stuff to wait on. For one, i had a pending case that was to be dismissed in October 2021 against my husband when he accused me of being abusive to him even though he was the one abusing me. I got a plea in abeyance of disorderly conduct and case to be dismissed after compliance with terms names in the plea which i did and now case dismissed. I also had to do psychological evaluation for almost 3 months.

so back to my point, we sent my approved i130 to show bona fide marriage, abuse proof such as texts, photos of bruises, transcripts of very bad audio messages from him to me, a police report from 2yrs back when he hit me and i called police but didn’t actually report when they got there because he threatened me with deportation if i told and I believed him, two friends wrote for me about how they witnessed our marriage and the consequent abuse from him how it broke me down, my pastor also wrote for me about the abuse since i told him and to vouch for my gmc and also one acquaintance wrote about my gmc. My husband and i had also been to a therapist to try to save our marriage and i went to her alone too after the marriage broke down and she told me and him that he is subjecting me to DV. So my therapist also wrote a letter for me and i included that as well as the danger assessment she did for me which i was in severe danger according to it. I haven’t sent in yet the police clearance as i was waiting for the case to be dismissed this month and i also just completed my psych evaluation. She diagnosed me with sever ptsd and sever depression and got me on antidepressants which I’m due for a refill, they’ve really helped me abunch.

I asked my lawyer to send these two crucial pieces of information to vermont as we already have my receipt but she says that’s not necessary and we can send when they later ask us to. If they ask. I just want to not wait as I didn’t get a PF yet. She says the therapist letter

may suffice but my psychologist one has more details.

I really don’t want to make her mad but i am thinking of just sending these information to Vermont myself. What should i do? Also if i were to send, should i send original copies or photocopy. My psychologist has done these types of evaluations and she said send in the original copy.

thanks for reading this long text and for your help in advance.

ps: I’m so afraid they might deny me for the false accusations even though on the police report it says he pushed me first and I scratched him accidentally as i was falling down and trying to hold onto something.

You can send stuff in at any time, but USCIS is pretty bad at handling unsolicited submissions, anything you send in to USCIS should be a copy, you won't get the originals back.

Personally I'd just wait for either a PF Denial or an RFE before sending in more stuff.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.
