Noticed a lot of Americans on here recently, so thought I’d drop this to spook them

Uh, definitely NOT stick/manual.  I still have flashbacks of when my ex tried to teach me how to drive stick in a Best Buy parking lot in Sierra Madre. He had a Lotus Elan -- who knew why he thought that was a good car to teach me on! -- and I kept grinding the gears and stalling it again and again and again until he finally ordered me out on the fourth try. I was apparently too immature to handle a vehicle like that and that was the end of that.

 

On the other hand, my husband is a millennial, as is my ex, and they both can drive stick. I think that's US/UK related though.

Learned to drive a stick on a fire truck with a high/low split axel, but my most fun was in Australia, driving on the left side of the road with the stick in my left hand.  At least the pedals were the same.

driving manual transition cars over there on the wrong side is the worst - especially when you have to deal with roundabouts. after an incident on the 5 ways roundabout in birmingham I melted down and refused to do it again

Husband has driven automatics for years now stateside, and longs for the day when he will go back to manual as he loves them. He gets so happy whenever he encounters the rare roundabout here. What he absolutely cannot stand though is the CVT transmission, and I will admit that it's a 'unique' experience driving in a CVT vs our old automatic.

CVTs are ok, but I do prefer a DCT over all other types.

DCT is probably more enjoyable than ECT.

I also prefer the DCT, but beyond that, give me an old fashioned manual transmission.

Move to MI, we have roundabouts/rotaries all over the place along with diverging diamond interstate exits.

Yeah, definitely and especially the smaller ones.  One thing I learned early on when using four exit roundabouts with two or more lanes, always expect the person driving in the outside lane to take the third exit or even a full U-Turn.
