Ok my fiance has k1 interview coming. Im currently in his country with him since march and i dont plan on leaving until after his interview. I work as a travel nurse as contractor. Of course i have not worked since march. My question is will it hurt our case if the embassy know that im not currently working? Of course i will take a contract once im back home or even a local job. The embassy only asked via email that i provide him with the last two years of tax return transcripts. Which he has now. Should we be worried if they find that i have been with him in his country for over 4 months now?

Hey fellow travel nurse. I don’t think it should be a problem, as a contractor you work whenever you want. Just let them know you are on a long break after taking care of Covid patients all year round.

question for you tho, how did you get an employment letter? Did u get it from various agencies or what?

Thanks for ur reply. I dont have an employment letter. I was never asked for one. The embassy only asked that my fiance brings the last two years of tax return transcripts. We are filing in sierra leone.

Provide what is asked for and don't give extra information.

If your current work status is not asked for, don't volunteer it. As mentioned what was asked for is tax returns.

Most times we provide the info that is used to deny us.

They usually will not ask if you are working but might ask your fiancé where you are.

No lies but short and simple answers to questions asked.

Of course, If asked, you must be truthful.  I wouldn't make up some story .

If your current income (not past income, or potential future income) is zero, they will ask for a joint sponsor.

Okay, well the problem with that is that it has to be current income.  If you are not currently working, your income is zero, and you will encounter problems.

If the OP is self employed or even employed as a contract nurse, and the tax returns look good, there should be no problem being truthful.  An occupation is asked for on the I-134, so tell the truth.  The visa applicant should be able to explain their fiancee is a traveling nurse who works when they want.

Probably, but it's not clear to me whether this is employment or self employment.  K1 is less straight forward in this regard, since NVC isn't involved.
