Can we not derail the thread into speculative rage complaining about Joe Biden reason #51861? This thread is about Cuomo. I did mention Gaetz briefly, because I'm still pretty annoyed that for all the real investigative work done about his documented problems, he continues to hang around with no real consequences. But if I had wanted to discuss that in detail, we could do that in his own thread.

 

So what's going on about the impeachment of Cuomo so far?

I expect Chris Cuomo is still around because he makes CNN money on advertising.  It may not be much, but it must be enough to sustain his position.  I doubt he would make any comment on his show and since it is not an actual news show, I suppose that is his decision.

 

As to the impeachment process, just do it, Cuomo is going to play the ignore game.  I still think he should be criminally prosecuted for his nursing home directive, but apparently that is not so important.

I agree with you about the first point, but I heard yesterday on a podcast version of one of the MSNBC evening shows (maybe Lawrence O'Donnell?) that the NYS Assembly is specifically adding the nursing home disaster in any articles of impeachment they file. And even though Letitia James' report was only as to Cuomo's civil transgressions, a prosecutor can and probably will use it as the basis to launch a broader criminal investigation. There is an appetite to do this right now. I know a lot of you do not watch MSNBC or read some of the left-leaning online news/commentary sites like Slate and Daily Beast, but people want to hang Cuomo out to dry right now on whatever they can get him on.

I imagine there are many that want to hang Cuomo out to dry, but he certainly still has a lot of supporters as well as close advisors, many of them women.

I know -- and this was discussed on that show. And it's kind of an interesting phenomenon with women who protect these kinds of men. I have often thought about the psychology of this, and come to my completely unprofessional opinion that women who do this sort of thing are deflecting to save not only their own high profile jobs (because you know if they say something, they're cut off/out ASAP) but also to prevent any of the same behavior being directed towards themselves. 

 

The important thing is that the status of Cuomo's remaining supporters is quite low, compared to his opponents. He won't back down because he's a narcissistic, egomaniacal, gaslighting, abusive monster. Anyone willing to go down with him deserves their just deserts.

Are you sure you are talking about Cuomo?  I kept hearing last year he was the epitome of leadership, and there was a lot of talk that he would be recruited to replace Old Joe if necessary.  I suppose there are some that actually have a thing for being around power.  We will see what the legislature of NY State does in the end as I don't think Cuomo is going to give them the easy out by resigning.
