Hi all - I just saw online that my N400 interview is scheduled for next month. Unfortunately my USC spouse is not in the country on the day of my interview. She is a high school teacher who is leading a language department's summer trip and traveling abroad with a group of students for a week. By no means, she can either cancel her plan or reschedule it because there are 49 people in the whole group including other chaperons. I have no idea if my interview is going to end up being a combo interview with my pending I-751 or just N400. Should I be concerned that my USC spouse won't be there with me for N400 interview? What can I do to convince IO that my wife and are still married despite her not being there? I plan to take our marriage certificate, this years taxes, any bank, mortgage, etc statements. Any insight or piece of wisdom will be helpful, thank you!

I suppose you can prove her absense? E.g. show her flight reservation printout, some emails about the trip from her work etc? Maybe the IO will be satisfied with this information.

My I-751 is pending and the case was transferred to NBC. I have N400 interview sometime soon but I have not received any communication from USCIS that my wife needs to come for a combo interview. My wife will not be in the country because of school summer trip as she’s leading it. Anyhow, do I call USCIS to reschedule already or wait until they call and ask my wife to join me and then reschedule or should I just go for my N400 interview and take it from there?
Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks!

Had a combo interview yesterday. Both went smooth, great IO. Was contacted by field office to bring my spouse. My spouse went with me but the security never let her in and said if IO wants her they’ll call her. As soon as IO approached me, he asked about my spouse and I told him what security did and said. IO thought for few secs and said, “hmm okay if we need her then we’ll call her”. He went on to approve my I-751 without needing my spouse which worked out perfectly fine because my spouse wasn’t feeling well anyways. It was so weird and emotional to see my file in front of me going all the way back to all different applications we had filed over the years. All right there in one folder.
All in all, great experience! All approved and now waiting to be scheduled for oath ceremony.

n400 —> July 2022.

for everyone trying to figure out USCIS pattern, please don’t and save your brain cells. Processing is not really done in sequence and it’s sporadic. If you file N400 then sooner or later, by the time the field office reaches to process your N400, they will have to seek for your I-751 and pull that out so do as you will but just wait around with patience as your opportunity will come and don’t compare yourself to others situation, I say this from experience.

All the best to everyone on their journey!!!

This is probably my last post here, but my spouse's 751 just got approved today at 10/17/2023 and new green card is produced.

She has no intention of applying for a citizenship, and I guess our journey ends here for now.

Thank you everyone for the help here, and hope yours is approved in no time as well.

Feel free to check our timeline.

Hello !

We ended up filling for the N400 last October (10/08/23) and thankfully passed the test combo interview for the I-751 and N-400 on February 1st of this month. And had an oath ceremony today! ! ! All glory to God that we are finally done with this! And I am praying for others still in the lane.🫶❤️

Hi y'all. So after almost 3 years of waiting we got a letter last month: RFE for insufficient evidence of a good faith marriage. I have many choice words about this but I am just going to work on it for now. Wanted to share an update and see if anybody else has gotten this and also how you've dealt with it/how long it took after you submitted the evidence? I am hoping that this at least means there is movement happening and hopefully after we submit the evidence they will process it timely.... dreams and wishes haha.

That probably means they you to send up to date marriage bonafides for you to be approved since your current file is now 3 years in the past. Lots of cases get approved with no interview after replying to an RFE in these circumstances.
