does anyone know if it is possible to submit an expedite request on your combo card so that you can apply for new jobs or do you have to have a job offer in hand before submitting the request?

You can go online and use "ask Emma" to request expedited EAD. Request must be for a valid reason (financial hardship) is the most common.

Then it's a waiting game to see if it's approved or not. Some are getting AOS approval's before they get combo cards.

It never hurts to ask. If you don't ask... the answer is always, no.

we sent in our packet in on May 10th. It was received and we got back receipts. We got the RFE for the physical in late June. Since then we have gotten zero updates. It seems like Bio appointments are usually scheduled and done by now. Does this seem like too long of a wait?

Please post these dates:

Priority date, date of RFE notice, date of RFE response received by USCIS.

Hello everyone!

Just want to update my timeline. I have filed for EAD expedite via Emma (type "live chat" in the chat with Emma and select "Case status" then the system will connect you to a live chat with representative). I told the rep that I am currently under financial hardship in order to request expedition. Not sure if they will ask for additional evidence but will keep everyone updated if anything comes up!

AOS packet sent: 5/3/2021
NOA1 received: 5/27/2021
Bio Appt: 8/12/2021
Case is ready for interview: 8/17/2021
EAD expedite request: 9/8/2021
Expedite request received: 9/9/2021

This has been somewhat annoying for us as I submitted a paper address change after my online one never got an update aside from the initial "we received your request" but I am assuming they got the addr change in. Our case hasn't changed since July 20 of "pending interview schedule" which has been somewhat disappointing. We don't need our AP/EAD that much but I really would prefer if they could at least give us a date for the interview!

Coming in late to this thread to share my timeline and keep an eye on other peoples for reference:

  • 05/18/21 AOS submitted
  • 05/20/21 AOS Arrived at USCIS
  • 06/03/21 Money taken + NOA1s received
  • 07/22/21 Biometrics Appointment Letter received
  • 08/09/21 Biometrics Appointment
  • 08/09/21 EAD Expedite Requested
  • 08/10/21 EAD Status changed to “Expedite Request Received”
  • 09/08/21 2nd EAD Expedite Requested + Case Status Updated to show new date

I never heard from USCIS regarding my initial EAD expedite request so contacted them on "Ask Emma" and they asked if I wanted to request again, I said yes as long as it wouldn't delay my initial request and put me to the back of the pile.

Ours still says "Fingerprint Fee was Received" although we have done the fingerprinting on August 20th.  Depending on your service center, an interview could be a very long ways away.  1+ year is not uncommon.  Youll most likely receive the AP/EAD in the mail much sooner.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

I-693 Notice: 7/2/2021

Did not send anything in since it was for the I-693 which we will bring to the interview like the notice says.

We talked to an agent through EMMA today and the agent confirmed our appointment had not even been scheduled yet. Looking at over four months since our priority date at this point. We would like to get this scheduled so we can work on her work authorization. She will have an internship this summer which it is needed for.

Wow that's very fast! I filed in the second week of May and my case status now is "Case ready to be scheduled for an interview".

My field office is Newark NJ as well, what was the reason you told them to expedite the EAD? and did you submit any documents please? I want to expedite but I couldn't think of any valid reason that I can get accepted with.
