Hi everyone! My fiance and i have our tenative wedding date for 8/28 of this year. As long as everything goes well he shoulf be here by July. I know we have to get married in the States but my question, do we have to have the wedding in my city (rochester, ny)? Wr are highly thinking kf eloping in hawaii or the flordia keys

Anywhere in the USA or one of its territories.  Period.

Be careful with tentative wedding dates, plan on flexibility until the beneficiary has the K-1 visa in hand, in their passport.  Same warning for buying flight tickets, quitting jobs, selling property, and so forth.  Others have been burned when they put down non-refundable deposits to hold venues, etc., only to have delays and have to change the date.  As long as you don't pay up front, non-refundable deposits, and have planned on flexibility, you should be fine.  Some counties are more of a hassle with COVID or have long wait times for the marriage certificate, which can delay filing the AOS paperwork, so research that as well.  You can get married anywhere in the US.  Good luck with your K-1 process and wedding!

I checked out your timeline, and I see that your NOA1 was in early November. Hope for the best, but keep in mind that after the i-129f approval (which is currently taking an average of 9 months), your case still has quite a few months to go. The historical data from visajourney shows that the k1 is sitting an average of 420 days from NOA1 to interview, so I don't think your partner arriving in July is a realistic estimate.

We did a ceremony-type thing near Tampa (I have some family there) in June 🤣. When it became clear we couldn't get my siblings all in town before then, we gave up on the idea of an outdoor ceremony 😁.

 

Though what we consider to be our actual wedding was the legal ceremony at a county clerk's office near us.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Nah; I was a Fayettevillian (go Hornets). Though that was the third city I'd lived in (I lived in/near one city until 7th grade, five different ones between there and two years after college, and have been living in San Diego since then other than spending an eternity in San Jose one winter).
