Is ROC really faster for Texas residents?

Hi fellow VJ members!

I have been scrolling through the different topics and it seems like some people from texas are getting their roc process going pretty fast. I'm wondering if it is just some of the applicants are a majority of them. It's hard to get the big picture getting info from the different topics so I decided to create a new topic to see if I could get a better image here.

LOL!!!!!!  We filed my wife's I-751 in March 2019......Still waiting for an interview since May 2019......  I wouldn't call that fast....almost 2 years in the process.....and still waiting.☹️

Thank you for sharing! It looks more like some kind of lottery, what kind of visa did you apply for in the first place?

CR-1.  That's probably why we WILL get an interview.  Some people who have previously interviewed with USCIS (Adjustment of Status) have had their ROC interviews waived.  But it is still a long wait for some of us.

So I guess the type of visa has more of an influence than the area you live in.

It certainly seems to be a factor.....along with the workload of the local offices.

It doesn't matter where you reside; it matters which service center is processing your case. Cases get assigned to a few different service centers based on caseloads in each center.

 

Texas Service Center has been quite fast for ROC cases where biometrics and interview could be waived because those had already been done for AOS. My ROC was processed in Texas, and it was fast. Others who filed around the same time and had done AOS also reported fast timelines. A bunch of us got notifications that biometrics were being re-used and that interviews were waived, all around the same time. So yes, Texas Service Center can be fast for ROC, if biometrics and an interview are not needed.

At first I thought ROC was only for former K-1 visa applicants with the 2 years conditional GC but apparently there's a lot of other visa that requires it.

CR-1 Spousal visa holders receive 2 year Green cards, which require conditions to be removed, too.  If a spousal visa holder enters the US prior to 2 years of marriage, he/she receives a conditional Green card.

ROC is required for ALL conditional permanent residents. Prior visa's don't really matter because there are multiple ways to obtain a 2-year GC.

The biometrics were waived, yet we were charged to do biometrics?

Good point! That's a bit of a BS move to be honest. Biometrics should maybe be paid once the appointment is made

Perhaps they are charging you for the re-processing....which might require some effort on their part.

If the interview is waived, does the process typically go faster (i.e. you don't need to go in the interview queue)? Or is there one main queue and as applications come up they are either assigned an interview or approved? This whole process seems kind of murky.

 

We need to file mid Feb, already had an AOS interview/biometrics when my wife adjusted from a B2 visa, super easy 10 minute chat with a friendly officer so I guess there were no issues. We have kids, jointly own a house, cars, full financial comingling etc. She's got a US driver's license, job etc. 

 

Here's to hoping we can get an expedite.

if they wave the Biometrics there is no processing per se. They are using the picture and finger prints from the previous appt. It's just another way to collect money. They have us by the (you know what), so we have to what they want.
