Hey guys,

Just sharing the most recent update from the travel state department. It was really nothing new from the April 6th update informing us of the Tiered approach, but it does appear they are trying to force embassies who are backlogged to take schedule more appointments in the immediate relative and k1 fiance visas. Hopefully we see more interviews in the next couple of months.

Thank you for sharing, hopefully we see things start to move soon!

I was kind of bummed when I read "however, the volume and type of visa cases each post will process continues to depend on local conditions, including restrictions on movement and gathering imposed by host country governments" because the Montreal consulate is terribly backlogged at the moment. Then I was uplifted by statement that included the maximizing of accommodations for fiancé(e) visas! That's amazing. Hopefully this really helps us.

How can this inform about how long waiting time may be for an appointment at the Embassy? I guess if we see that K1 visas have been issued that's a good sign...

Actually, it's a very bad sign for some of us. It looks like they are processing even less K visas for June at least for Bogotá. They tell us things are improving, but we are seeing even less processing in many embassies. Not good. Some embassy backlogs are now two years and climbing fast.

Yeah but how can you tell that without knowing how many applications there have been?

How long does the RFE letter take to arrive?  Mine was sent on August 25 and I'm still waiting.  Seems a little long in my opinion (or maybe I'm just anxious!!!).  My address is correct.  Wonder if they don't mail them right away?  ugh - the wait!!!!

You can estimate by looking at timelines on this site. For example, Bogota has several people with a NOA2 date going back to 10/2020. That puts them about one year behind.

That's atrocious! So almost a year people can't get appointment after NOA2 approval? Doesn't the NOA2 expire after 4 months?

On the official page of my embassy it says:

Quote

"Current Status of Visa Services: The U.S. Embassy is currently processing all categories of immigrant visas, K fiancé visas, and student and exchange visitor nonimmigrant visa applications. As post-specific conditions permit, our mission will phase in processing of additional nonimmigrant visa cases. We expect the volume and scheduling of visa cases will depend on local circumstances. We will resume adjudicating all routine nonimmigrant and immigrant visa cases only when adequate resources are available, and when it is safe to do so."

Why is Bogota so bad?

Montreal embassy was also horribly behind for a bit there but judging from the spreadsheet provided by the Montreal K1 group on Facebook, it's looking like the wait time has decreased to 7-9 months after NOA2 approval.
