UGH! I am doing the right thing staying far away from my mom and dad, and I doubt they're as old as that mayor's are. I am furious about these officials saying one thing and practicing another. People notice. Be the change you wish to see, huh? This goes for people of every political party, or none at all. Want to end COVID? STAY HOME like you told US to.

Well, I like to practice what I preach about tolerance, good works, self-sacrifice, humility, and being useful. I can't say I always hit the mark but I try. Voldy always said I was utterly middle class and if that's the case, I can live with it.

This was a direct sentence from a letter he sent to City of Denver employees: As the holidays approach, we all long to be with our families in person, but with the continued rise in cases, I’m urging you to refrain from travel this Thanksgiving holiday. For my family that means cancelling our traditional gathering of our extended family. We must take these steps now if we want to change the trajectory of this virus.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

And then he supposedly topped it off by sending a tweet from the airport, or at least soon before he departed yesterday.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock urged his followers on social media to avoid traveling for Thanksgiving and then boarded a plane to spend the holiday with his family.

Hancock spokesman Mike Strott confirmed to The Denver Post that Hancock flew on Wednesday from Denver to Houston to spend Thanksgiving with his wife and daughter in Mississippi.

Hancock told his Twitter followers on Wednesday to “pass the potatoes, not COVID.” He also recommended holding virtual gatherings and avoiding travel if possible.

Supreme Court Sides with Religious Groups Against Andrew Cuomo, 5-4

Quote

The U.S. Supreme Court granted an injunction Wednesday evening against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s restrictions on religious services in a 5-4 decision that saw Justice Amy Coney Barrett with the conservative majority — and Chief Justice John Roberts siding with the liberal minority.

The Court was responding to a request for an emergency injunction by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and the Agudath Israel of America, an Orthodox Jewish group, against restrictions limiting services to ten people in some areas and 25 people in others.

In early October, Cuomo openly threatened to “close the synagogues” if they did not comply with his orders.

Quote

Stemming the spread of COVID–19 is unquestionably a compelling interest, but it is hard to see how the challenged regulations can be regarded as “narrowly tailored.” They are far more restrictive than any COVID–related regulations that have previously come before the Court, much tighter than those adopted by many other jurisdictions hard-hit by the pandemic, and far more severe than has been shown to be required to prevent the spread of the virus at the applicants’ services.

Quote

Members of this Court are not public health experts, and we should respect the judgment of those with special expertise and responsibility in this area. But even in a pandemic, the Constitution cannot be put away and forgotten.

LA County supervisor visited restaurant after voting for outdoor dining ban: report

Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl visited an eatery in Santa Monica, Calif., last week, just hours after she voted to ban outdoor dining at restaurants in the county due to COVID-19 safety concerns, according to a report.

Kuehl was seen dining outside at Il Forno Trattoria, an Italian restaurant near her house, Fox 11 Los Angeles reported. She had referred to outside dining as “a most dangerous situation” during an L.A. County Board of Supervisors meeting last Tuesday.

“This is a serious health emergency and we must take it seriously,” Kuehl said. “The servers are not protected from us, and they’re not protected from their other tables that they’re serving at that particular time, plus all the hours in which they’re working.”

San Jose Mayor Attended Thanksgiving Party After Telling Citizens To ‘Cancel Big Gatherings This Year’

The mayor of San Jose, California attended a Thanksgiving party with family members who were not part of his own household after telling citizens to “cancel big gatherings this year.”

“Cases are spiking, in part because we’re letting our guard (and masks) down with family & friends,” San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo tweeted Nov. 25. “Let’s cancel the big gatherings this year and focus on keeping each other safe.”

The following day, Liccardo celebrated Thanksgiving with an unknown number of guests at the Saratoga home of his elderly parents, NBC Bay Area reported.

Liccardo’s staff confirmed that the mayor attended the Thanksgiving event but refused to specify how many people and different households were present as well as whether attendees wore masks when they were not eating, the publication reported.

“This is a private event – not public,” Liccardo’s Chief of Staff Jim Reed repeatedly told NBC Bay Area. “We are going to redraw the line between what is personal and what is public because that line has become blurred.”

But you know.. the real problem here isn't the hypocritical authoritarian behavior by these leaders, nor their selective exclusion to their rules for preferential political ideology.. no, the real problem here is those who politically oppose these measures for rightfully stated reasons will report (aka "exploit") said hypocrisy:

San Francisco Mayor London Breed also dined at French Laundry

Gov. Gavin Newsom isn't the only one who couldn't turn down an invitation to a birthday party at the French Laundry amid a global pandemic.

The San Francisco Chronicle broke the story Tuesday that Mayor London Breed attended a similar affair at the much-lauded restaurant in California's Napa Valley the night after the governor.
