Tourist visas from PH

Hello all

If my wife, from Philippines, and I (US citizen) wish to bring her mom and dad over to visit on a tourist 10 year multiple entry, how hard is it?

 

Parents are both about 62. My wife owns the house and her parents live there. Her dad is a retired police officer and has a pension of 20,000 pesos a month ($400 USD) and we still help them monthly with about $300.

They apply and their applications are judged on their own merits, based on their ties to home.  There is no sponsorship or any role in the process for you.

It is not hard for you as you are not involved, applying is fairly simple they may have a bit of a trip to the Consulate depending where they live.

If they don't have tourist visas yet, they will have to wait until the US embassy in Manila resumes routine visa services.  Once that resumes, your in-laws will need to fill out an application form, pay $160 each, and reserve an interview slot (they can interview together).  The hardest part would be getting to the embassy for the interview, especially if your in-laws don't live in Metro Manila.

You do nothing as part of the process. They have to apply on their own. As already mentioned, there is no sponsorship of a tourist visa.

 

Their changes depends on how they will show they will return back to the PHL and not try to use the visitor visa to live in the US. You "helping" them may be a big red flag. Because it will show they may not be self sufficient and be at risk on relying on you in the US too much.

 

For now all the can do is apply and see.

That's a pretty large pension for the Philippines.  I suspect that would be a huge asset in getting a tourist visa.

 

As a rule the old and rich are usually granted tourist visa from PI to USA........

It’s a little contradictory to say the old and rich are usually granted visas and then bristle about the cost of a trip. I mean, I assume the kids are paying for the parents trip but then that contradicts the notion of “rich”. 🤷‍♀️.Perhaps what allovertheworld meant to say is that what the parents have in the PH allows them to live a good lifestyle which they could never match on the same income in the US, and that may be a positive for a visa.
