Called Social security today as haven't received card. They have no record of application from USCIS 😠 so,since all office are closed due to pandemic to in person, we have to mail his passport and EAD with Ssn application and wait another 3 weeks😒

Oh no. We separated our ssn application. Applied right away after 2weeks of arrival here in US. but due to pandemic it got to the point where my i-94 expired and they couldn’t validate with USCIS. so no SSN yet.

do you think we will have to reappear to SS Office? Or just a call after we get our EAD?

Has anyone had to postpone their biometrics appointment/request a reschedule? Super poor timing but we received our Biometrics appointment letter on Monday for the following Tuesday but my husband tested positive with COVID so we can't make the appointment. Does anyone know how long in between it takes to get another appointment date? SO SAD

Last week, our case status changed to Case is Ready to be Scheduled for Interview.  After we submitted our RFE for the I-944, it was a quick turn-around which was great!  However, I don't know how long it typically takes for them to schedule an interview.  You would think it wouldn't take long, but I'm hearing it could take a while depending on your service center.

This process has been exhausting and we can't wait to get a break from all this paperwork.  In all honesty, the thing we want the most is the EAD approval so we can her social security number in order to file our taxes.  I know I could file an extension, but I would like to avoid that if possible since I have to submit 4 returns.....a real pain.

Does anyone know why we keep getting new AP/EAD dates emailed from Visa Journey? Are those based on updates to the USCIS site? It just got two months longer. 😭

It's just an estimate from Visa Journey. I received also that my AP is approved but until now I got no update.

I hope to received an update this week for our EAD and AP. God bless us all. And keep yourself warm. Here in IL the weather is really bad. To much snow. I can't wait that this winter is soon be over.

I don't know what the VisaJourney estimate is based off of, but the EAD/AP timeline actually seems to be based on when you did your biometrics (or responded to RFIE, if that was later). It looks like the combo cards typically get approved within 1-2 months of when that is done, based on the timelines uploaded to this site: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/eadlist.php?cfl=&op5=4,7,11,12

VJ estimates are based on others' timelines (though I don't know exactly what formula they use for this).

On I-944(shown in pic)
if beneficiary filed taxes for 2019(worked only in 2019) but didn’t work 2020 so no w2 for 2020
1. Should the beneficiary tick “YES” for “did you or your household member whose income included, file a federal tax return” since she did one for 2019 ? OR “No” since she didn’t work in 2020 so no w2?

Please advise

I'm no tax expert, however...if it was me, I probably would check YES since you did at some point file a federal return.  Then I would put 2019 in the box that says Federal Tax Year and then supply that Box 1 figure from the W-2 into the following box next to it where it asks for your "Wages, tips".  Also, keep in mind, not everyone has filed their 2020 taxes yet since people have thru April 15th to submit.  Therefore, if you submit before then, I would think the USCIS would be ok with your 2019 Federal Return.

Again, that is just my opinion.  Hope that helps!

Best of Luck,

apellica
