Today I received a letter for my Biometrics appointment. I already expected that I'd have to go in for biometrics cos our CR1/CR2 paperworks were processed overseas.

 

So my question is, on my biometrics appointment does my dependent need to be there with me? He came here to the US with me.

Did you file I-751 listing the child as dependent child that acquired conditional resident status on the same day as you or within 90 days thereafter? And was the total fee you paid $765? https://www.uscis.gov/feecalculator

You should take the dependent to the appointment, just in case. In the fee you paid, you included biometrics for the dependent.

For the people who have WAC as processing center (like myself): It looks like that people who filled in January are starting to get the “was updated to show fingerprints were taken” message, so hang in there.

we are going to file next month so we started preparing our paperwork sooner.

we are posting this question here since the members already got the extension letter so they know what to do. anyway, we were wondering about what to write in the sections of the form that doesn't apply to us. for example, we do not have children, so do we write N/A, or None, or leave it blank.

second example: no  other names used, so what is the correct tip to write?

please if you can answer what is your experience and if you did write none or n/A or both, where did you write it. example: 2a: none...

We left those spaces blank just like we did in aos forms

Put N/A in those fields that do not apply to you. This is what I did. I have two kids, so I filled two of them, and put N/A in rest of the section.

I guess both works, but we were wondering if somebody posted that they had RFE for leaving it blank or something.

I think the purpose of RFE is to request more evidence. Leaving some fields blank should not cause a RFE. Instead, USCIS will reject the case if the form is not filled properly. However, I am not sure which fields who must put N/A, so I put it everywhere I can. Leaving some blanks may also be fine, I think depends on who review it.

I always left it blank since k-1 and no RFE or rejections.

Anybody have any idea about doing a name change after you have filed your ROC and received extension letter?  My wife wants to change her last name to mine while she is waiting on ROC.  She filed in July 2020 and received extension letter already.  Thanks!

I did the name change. On my conditional greencard it was still my maiden name. So, when i filed for the ROC, i used my husband's last name under the Name and my maiden name under the Alias. I never had any issues and received my extension letter already.

My wife kept her maiden name on her immigration paperwork, says it will not cause a problem that way for traveling. What she did do was change to the married name for everything else. All you need is the marriage certificate. Went to social security motor vehicles and even got credit card and banking info in married name. she will change to married name when she naturalizes.
