Not on issuing K-visas according to the letter of the proclamation.

Either way, just got a response that it's because of the proclamation. I guess I'm going to look for a job again from September until the end of the year.

Good for you

Thanks!

So we are slowly getting more "official" data-points that K-1's are not banned by the POTUS EO's on immigration, but rather are not being processed from some re-opened Embassy's in countries that have the travel ban (at least most of those embassies have not started and some have said they won't until the travel ban is lifted).

That said, the maneuver of going from an EU country where travel to the USA is banned via a third country that is not banned, (like mexico) and staying for 2 weeks before entering the USA, seems to be working for entry to the USA for a person that lives in a travel-banned EU country.

SO...why can't the EU based Embassies issue K-1's?  Yeah, sure the beneficiary cannot fly direct from that country to the USA at the moment, but why not process and issue K-1's and let the person figure out how/when to get to the USA with the travel ban implications?

(long winded way of saying not processing K-1's due to the travel ban is misplaced, if not an outright excuse.  So what if the K-1 has to be re-issued if it expires before the ban is lifted?  Right now we have expiring NOA2's that have to be extended.  At least by going ahead and doing their jobs and issuing valid visas, some couple could be re-united via the "mexico maneuver".  I know we would use it and I know many others would as well.)

An update on Moscow Embassy's Facebook page without changes in fact - "Visa processing is suspended for all but emergency cases until further notice".
Consular operations status

Hi,

Not sure what this video means exactly as far as their plans and timeline on reopening, but maybe those going through Moscow should consider transferring their case to a nearby country where they'd have better chances of ever getting through this nightmare this year.

Can anyone suggest the *best* European embassies a CR1/IR1 case can be transferred to that are already open or are going to start processing the immigrant visa categories in the near future (within two weeks)?

Also, anyone knows how much time is needed for the transfer?

It’s just information about things being the same and considering their recent silience it’s still better than no updates.

You can transfer to the embassy of the country where you have a citizenship or where you legally reside now.

I see the things exactly the opposite way. I guess this kind of update just means they are not even thinking about reopening anytime soon. Silence meant to me they were thinking, so it was good. I expected an update around this time and the hope was they would announce plans on reopening. Indeed, an update came out but it looks like they made a different decision.

Can you please point me to the source of your information for the case transfer? For example, US embassy in Japan says that you can transfer the case if the other embassy wants to process the case: https://jp.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/case-transfer-request/

I understand your point. But after waiting for any sign of their acknowledgment of Department of State‘s visa news it is a hint of communication to me.

I didn’t find an official page about transferring but I‘ve been reading this forum and Russian ones and this was the answer on the similar requests. Didn’t see people’s stories about transferring if they weren’t residents.
