Hey JedMills,

We haven't received anything other than standard/template style replies from the NVC and consulate. They do send an auto generated email every two months to advise we are DQ'd and still awaiting the Sydney Consulate to request additional cases. We are coming up to being DQ'd for 10 months on 7th July so hoping we hear something soon.

I hear the NVC is starting to process cases a little quicker and it seems like the Sydney Consulate are starting to make a dent in K1 interviews. Hopefully you don't have the long wait that we have had.

I'm trying to work out a way we can get our case expedited, but not sure I'd be able to convince NVC we fall under any of their valid reasons for an expedite request. Which I guess in the long run/wider world is a good thing for us.

That's a good way of looking at it. We filed two expedite requests due to employment opportunities but both were rejected. We just kept reminding ourselves that we're fortunate to be living in the country we are while waiting for the opportunity to live in another great country. Although, I'd be lying if I said there aren't tough days.

I think our case was just Dq'd at a really unfortunate time. It seems we just missed the case load that was sent out pre covid lockdown and consulate relocation and have just had to sit in line until the world/Consulate reopens. Hopefully the wait for an interview isn't as long for newer cases like yours being DQ'd now. Goodluck!

@Kelc not that I have seen or heard of. Apparently diversity visas and student visas are priority at the moment as they all need to happen before September end.

Same. Super frustrating that they are prioritising diversity visas when those are random ### people who won a draw and has no connection to the US while people like on the CR1/IR1 visas have families that are torn apart

Any September interviews been assigned so far for employment visas?

Hi,

I have emailed the us consulate in sydney and they replied they are still dealing with backlog cases before they move. So, at this moment, I do not expect they could solve the problem very fast. If you are Australian citizen, have you ever thought apply E3 visa to go to us at first and then transfer your case to I-485?

@Tristan L I think the cases from

Before shutdown are being addressed July - September, so diversity visas, K and some spouse ones too. I sincerely hope that from

October that they start requesting whatever is left from 2021 based on DQ date.

I believe you need an offer for an E3, seems like a lot of effort if an interview for Sydney consulate is 3-4 months away (hopefully!)

Hi BahamaBaby,

I am still waiting for the interview and how about you? Recently, the US consulate Sydney has posted a response on their facebook and after that, nothing updated. If waiting time is over one year, could we do something to force them to expedite our cases? Someone mentioned on the facebook, they transferred their cases to Fiji and got their visas very fast. No sure whether there still works, but not for New Zealand, they refused me directly.

Thanks.

I’m waiting for my interview to be scheduled for my EB3 employment based IV.

They accepted my expedite back in early August however I received an email saying that earliest available appointment for me would be November but no guarantee.

Isn’t it a joke that they would accept an expedite but can’t honor it?!

I only found that out because I’ve been sending them emails inquiring about my accepted expedite and wondering when the interview would be scheduled

@NatP EB1 here and DQ august 2021 with no update so far. I know a lot of the family visas have made progress and cleared all of 2021 and are now looking at early 2022 Dq dates.

do you mind sharing your DQ and basis for expedite? I think October interview schedule is booked up, so yes makes sense that November is likely the first available.

@BahamaBaby thanks for your reply!

I can’t believe you’ve been waiting for your interview for 1 year now.

Have you requested an expedite?

I was DQed end of July 2022, my expedite accepted on the same day.

Case was received in Sydney early August and I was told I was going to be placed on a waitlist for next available appointment.

I waited for 6 weeks ( this week) and since I haven’t heard, I started sending them emails and finally I got a reply.

I’m an oncology nurse and the hospital who’s sponsoring me gave me a letter backing me up for the expedite request.

there’s a massive shortage of nurses in the US, specially in specialized areas such as oncology. The hospital is sponsoring more than 600 nurses so they urge us to be there asap!

However different from my colleagues who are in other countries, who once expedite was accepted, have been given an interview date within 1 month, mine was placed on this waitlist and this is it.

I have nurse colleagues who are going to the same hospital I am, who were DQ same time I was, have done the interview already!
