Enjoyed the week.  Beaches, sailing, riding motorcycles, no masks in stores, TP abounds and hand sanitizer is available.  It's almost like being in a different world.

Went to the beach today with the "extended" family.  UNBELIEVABLE.  Impossible to find a place to park, and this is a relatively small city with a tremendous amount of beach access and parking (every E-W street dead ends at the beach with parking as well as several parks with parking).  Step daughter stayed in the car for a half hour until a spot opened up.  Looks like everyone was ready to get out.  Fortunately all were keeping some distance.

Omg this was my daughter. She's angry that everyone is going to her aunt's house for dinner today.  She's moved to her grandma's house to stay more isolated than she was at home with her dad.  While I dont agree with a large gathering, I had to tell her that her grandmother was a grown adult and can decide to risk being in public or not.  I also told her she can make the decision not to go.

Well she has no where to isolate herself from when her family gets together. And shes not "this angry" just disappointed that people cant follow guidelines.  She's very much like me in that regard.  She is scared for her grandma who is elderly. She's depressed and lonely.  She has every right to feel those feelings and is seeking help for the depression.  But that doesnt change the fact shes scared and as a dependent child cant control her life as much as she'd like. 

 

I was personally was angry at my mother snd step-father for putting their lives at risk to have dinner at a friend's house. He hasnt been in the best health in a year (almost died from an abcess on his appendixl and she runs a small business cleaning rentals.  No one is available to look after them if they're sick.  My brother has an immunocompromised child and my sister is an ER nurse with an adult child who had severe OCD and cant live on his own.  They had a scare and are being more cautious.  BC has flattened their curve really well.
