Hello there community!
I am currently working on fiancé and I’s 1-129F packet. I am gathering employment history and other info for the form itself, but I am currently working on our circumstances of meeting letter. Would it help if we each wrote one? It’s no more than a page. What was your experience with writing a COM?

also on a side note: I don’t have exact start and end dates for all of my employment history. Is this going to be a big deal?

You only need to state the circumstances of your in person meeting(s) Don't over-complicate this part. Only need something from the petitioner.

On such and such a date, I traveled to place to meet so and so. We spent the next two weeks in his/her hometown visiting family members and sightseeing

I don't think you have anything to worry about with the employment.

No such letter is required.  USCIS doesn’t have time or inclination to read relationship novellas.  The requirement for question 54 literally is one or two sentences to fit in the space allotted, with the supporting documentation (passport stamps, boarding passes).

You may be thinking of  the letter of intent to marry one another.  This can be two separate letters, or one joint letter which you both sign.

Here is an example. Just cut and paste from here and fill in the necessary information in red. That's it for the letter of intent.

Fiancé Letter of Intent

(Date mm-dd-yyyy)

(PETITIONERS OR BENEFICIARY NAME)

(PETITIONER SO BENEFICIARY'S ADDRESS)

United States Department of Homeland Security

US Citizenship and Immigration Services

(ADDRESS OF FILING LOCATION)

Or when submitting for interview

United States Department of State

United States Consulate. (name of the country where the interview will take place)

(Embassy Address)

Dear Sir or Madam

I (applicant or beneficiary's name) do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry (applicant or beneficiary's name)  and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

Yours truly.

(Signature of Petitioner or beneficiary)

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Country and Visa Type: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RyJiLo_7WTmqvkzXXqLuOlVHm9oyhAES/view?usp=sharing

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Thank you! I’ve been hearing people say that i didn’t know what they were talking about.

I was reading here about the circumstances of meeting: https://mypathtocitizenship.com/describe-i-129f-circumstances-of-meeting/

A detailed read of official instructions is needed to counterbalance any third party information.   A COM "letter" (as you put it) is not referenced anywhere.

A good rule of thumb is to look at the size of the provided response space on the form itself.  It gives you an idea of how long a response they are expecting.

YMMV

Yes you do need letter of intent to marry. Also a one letter telling them how you met your fiance. And how many times you both have seen in person. Make sure you include itineraries or copy of your stamp passport page that shows entry into that country visited to see your fiance.

Not required as it is included on the I-129F.  What is a Notice of more information?  There is no such USCIS form.

@ManofGod is your profile even correct?  How did you possibly do a CR-1 DCF that took more than a few months and went to the NVC?  By definition the NVC is skipped.

Can you provide any official documentation or source for this being required (not a "my friend got an RFE", unless the redacted RFE is posted)?

Provide a copy of that Notice if you would please. This is new information and does not match any part of the Nigerian P3 interview requirements. Here is a copy if there is a doubt.
