I sell Toyotas and there are some brands I would never consider. Ford is not one of them. I have owned several mustangs. They make a pretty decent truck also. I have sold many a used also.

 

Anything Chrysler would be at the bottom of my list. Anything Fiat would be below that.

As coronavirus cuts a swath of economic destruction across Europe, pushing the already-strained budgets of southern countries to the brink, calls are getting louder for the eurozone to intervene by issuing debt backed by all members.

 

The EU “must act before it’s too late,” Italian President Sergio Mattarella, a man not known for drifting into pathos, warned in a televised address to the nation on Friday.

The logic behind the so-called corona bonds is simple: If high-debt countries such as Greece, Spain and Italy could borrow money with Germany’s backing as a guarantor, investors would consider them less of a credit risk and demand lower interest rates, making it easier for those countries to continue to tap the bond market.

Corona Bonds ? Not sure that is such a catchy name. The thing they forget is that Germany will be in Recession and unlikely to be that recetive.

Just wondering of those following the data on JH or Worldometers, what is Washington State doing?  They have been dropping like a rock on the list.  Last week they were a top three hotspot and now they are at 10.  AFAIK, they did not put in major shutdowns immediately.

I think the drop is evidence of the lag time between the start of social distancing and the effectiveness of social distancing.  That was the first hot spot in the US.  @Jorgedig might have some insight.......

That may be part of it, but the governor in Washington did not issue a SIP order until late March.  I know their health department was recommending social distancing and allowing entities to make their own decisions, but if this was all about the SIP order, it only took a week or so for them to peak.  Another factor could be herd immunity with the assumption that the virus was circulating there for months.  I just find it interesting, something is different there, and the UW model shows that their health system will not be overwhelmed.  CA is in a similar boat.

I think the closing of the schools early on was a big part of it.  Also, this area is a tech job hotspot, so more people are able to work from home, and started to do so long before the governor's Stay at Home order.

 

I work in the cancer center at the Kirkland hospital where most of the Life Care patients were treated at, and I went to work on Sunday, March 1, the weekend of the first deaths there.  I was the only nurse scheduled for 8 patients who were there for injections or home chemo infusion pump disconnects.  The hospital was weird that day.  All of the doors into the building were locked, except for the ER.  The door to our infusion center was locked.  Security was NOWHERE to be found to let us in, and the security guard who finally did show up was visibly frazzled.  Local news stations were set up around the perimeter, just off of the campus.

 

Everything around here changed after that.  

 

Google the phenomenon known as "Seattle Freeze."  It is a thing, and it could be a contributor to why social distancing works well here.
