K1 - help, overthinking and worrying!

We're about to send off our application and I'm worrying and stressing about the whole process already!

When I think logically and technically, we have all the proof needed to show we are in a genuine relationship - visited each other 6x, engaged on the 6th visit, time spent together is 50% of our relationship, I've met his parents but he hasn't met mine yet, our friends know about one another. Maybe one downfall is that we have only been together for 6months.

I keep worrying that we haven't got enough "proof" or there are holes somewhere that we cannot spot which may lead to a denial. I've also heard they will look at our social media accounts however I do not share much on there due to the person I am.

One day I am very positive we will be approved, the next moment I would be stressed out of my mind incase we have really missed out something and seem "fake."

Can anyone help to how to ease my worries or offer any words of wisdom in dealing with this (when we haven't even gotten to the interview which'll be even more stressful!)

I lived with my fiance for 6 months when he was based in Italy and I have those moments too when I see posts about passport stamps and hotel reservations and all that....You will 100% have enough proof. At this stage of it, they are only looking for proof that you have met once in the last 2 years :) Take a deep breath and you'll be absolutely fine!

Also I had only been with my fiance since January...so we were only together 9 months when we applied. You see people getting approved after having met only 1 time with very little evidence. The UK is a low fraud country, you will be so fine! ❤️

Social Media accounts is for a further stage, so again, don't be panicking. If it's a real relationship, then you have nothing to worry about trust me. I've gotten a million grey hairs over the past 3 months waiting for my approval.

❤️

edit: only need to meet once not twice.

I was in a similar boat at first, panicking about everything. But honestly there is no point to it. It will not help you, and going to the interview as a nervous wreck will not be helpful.

My advice: make a plan, focus on steps. First is gathering documents and filling everything out. Double check. Then send. Then you have a waiting period. It's not easy, but there is stuff you can do to ease it up.

If you are the one moving: Make lists of things you will need to take with you. Start looking into what documents you will need down the line and how you can get them. So when you need them, you won't have to research how to get them. You can de-clutter your wardrobe, you possessions, decide what you want to take, what you leave behind. Throw away stuff you have been meaning to throw away. You know you have some.

If you are the USC: same thing. There are for sure things you need to move and remove to make space for your partner. Help you partner research things they will need.

Keep busy, think in steps, and free up space for new things. And talk to you fiance about your worries. They are the one that truly understand how it feels. Find solutions together. Even outline a plan B, just in case. Chat with people here, we get it. Try to look at this as a learning experience. Knowing how to be patient with paperwork and admin stuff and how to organize it all and generally research things will help you out tremulously in life.

Thanks for the advice! The waiting game will definitely be intense.

What was/is your Plan B if the K1 didn't/doesn't work out?

Totally depends on the reason for denial. If it's something we can easily remedy, we will try K1 again. If it's something more complex, we will check if the spouse visa is a better option or if he will need to move to Croatia.
We have been together for more than 2 years, but have managed to see each other only twice, since I was not able to get a tourist visa to US (tried twice, no chance when you are a freelancer) and his work got so impossibly busy for a period of almost 8 months, he was not able the leave the US, there was literally no one to do the job (he works as a Personal Attendant to a person with disabilities, there is a big turnaround because it's a demanding job). Not your ideal situation for a K1 visa, but there have been worse.

I do have another question again though - again, this is me overthinking.

The first time I ever visited the US was to meet my fiancé - we weren't together then yet however I was completely shocked at how interrogative the Customs officers were.

He asked what my purpose was and I said to visit a friend - again, completely true. He then asked how I knew this friend.. The truth was actually online, but I panicked and lied and said through a mutual friend.

2nd visit - I said I was visiting a friend and no further questions asked.

3rd visit - I thought I should be honest and say visit my boyfriend. Again, asked how we met and told the lie that it was through a mutual friend. She was pretty interrogative and understandably so.

Have my answers been recorded down? Obviously, going forward I will be telling the truth due to the K1. But would my discrepancies in such answers affect my application?

This entire process is stressful.....but don't let the "what ifs" drive you crazy.  Study the process, provide what is needed, and keep yourself occupied during the wait.  Good luck.

This process does not have to be stressful. I think people bring a lot of it on themselves. If you're a legitimate couple, not strangers pulling some fake scam, then it is going to happen unless the Brit has some serious criminal charges, drug habit, or a contagious disease like leprosy. Trying to figure out the day and minute it will happen is what gets people way too caught up in it. Prepare a great petition that includes all the needed information and then just get off the daily Visa Journey hovering. Live your daily life without letting the "how long" monster consume your former brilliant personality. A London interview is so easy. They do not want to see any more or new proof of relationship at all. Many walk out saying "That was it?? Why was I so worried".  One bloke said the dinner lady at work asked more questions about his fiancé than the interviewer.

You have been  together for 6 months and visited each other 6 times already, that is good time spent together. Don't worry too much, the only requirement is that you've  met in person at least once within the last 2 years.

Try to relax, this is just the begining. Most people get stressed while waiting for a response from UCSIS 😞, but that is later on the process.

You've got way more facetime with each other than many on this forum. 6 months is longer than many here, and there is no minimum time limit you must have known each other. You're British (low fraud country - Brits have little reason to commit fraud for a green card).

I was in a similar situation - British, and we'd had 5-6 meetings too before the k1 petition. We'd been together about 18 months (my now wife was separated from her ex, but we had to wait for divorce). We had no problems at all and my interview for greencard was waived (ie they didn't feel the need to interview me).

So long as you adequately document the times you've met (passport stamps, boarding passes etc) you will be fine. The process can seem scary, but it really isn't too bad unless you have skeletons in your background (criminal history, visa overstays etc). I actually enjoyed my interview in London, was very friendly.
