Last night, shortly after midnight, my husband was outside in our driveway (he had just taken my car for a drive to make sure the battery stays charged) and an unmarked white minivan stopped in front of our house to shoot BBs at him, my car, and our house. It then drove off and stopped at the next to shoot at their cars and house. He called the police and gave a report. The cop he spoke to said its been happening the last few nights across different neighborhoods. Several other people in our area reported damaged property such as broken widows. He woke me up to tell me what happened and then I was awake for several hours after dealing with anxiety. I'm glad it was just a BB gun and not something with more power. We were both thinking about our kiddo who is due Tuesday. Her nursery is at the front of the house. What if it the shooting had broken her window? Her crib is right below the windows.

We did both tell our parents about the incident this morning. I had to specify to my mom not to mention it to either of my sisters as I don't want it to turn political (they'd both say that shooting at my husband, car, and house was justified). I just wanted her to know since they live in a close by neighborhood. People often joke about our city and how bad it is, but I've lived here the majority of my life and everywhere is usually safe. We don't know if it was an isolated incident or riot related, but I don't even feel like I can warn anyone outside of my parents without someone biting my head off and saying I'm not helping the cause.

I'm truly sorry about what happened to you. So senseless and certainly scary. And I perfectly understand you not feeling comfortable sharing your concerns. Everyone seems to be quite tense and easily triggered these days.

Unfortunately the situation as a whole, has set the perfect conditions for opportunists to let themselves free and do as they please, hiding behind the protests.

Besides violence and destruction, I'm personally appalled by the amount of organizations -many I never ever heard of- asking for people to donate and also, those selling "social justice" merchandise to supposedly "support the cause".

It seems that almost everyone is taking advantage on one way or another.

Is there an ER vet?

There was that availability, si Niki-B. ma'am.

Is she okay?

Cat T-B. was moving around but still wouldn't eat and didn't resist the carrier at all, atypical for miu man.

Miu-specialist vet reported the following, si and sigh man:

-- Miu lost another 2 lbs. since April visit, down below Many (2x2x2-1) lbs. man.

-- Miu has cholangiohepatitis/pancreatitis, sick miu man.

-- Liver enzymes & bilirubins elevated, sick miu man.

-- Potassium level very low, sick miu man.

-- White blood count elevated to Many,000 ([2x2x2x2x2+2],000), sick miu man.

-- Miu is very dehydrated, thirsty miu man.

-- All of this is secondary to diabetes and was brewing below the surface, hammered miu man.

Solution is hospitalization with intravenous antibiotics/electrolytes and medicine to get her gall bladder working, fix miu man.

Miu-specialist says that this has worked in at least half such mius and in as many as Many% ([2x2x2x2x2x2+1]%), somewhat better than average man.  The cost is $Many,000 ($[2+2],000), give or take man.  She did not discuss what would be required at home thereafter, multiple medications man.

We will leave miu there with an intravenous catheter for nutrition/medication for Many (2x2x2x2 + 2x2x2) hours, one day man.  That way, the catheter will be in there for continued therapy or for the "final solution," possibly euthanize miu man.

June Many'th (2x2x2 + 2+2+1th) would be Many [2x2x2] years with us, long-term miu man.

Addendum, man: Vet just called back to ask for decision.  We should leave the POTS office now to discuss with family, man.

Gracias,  Niki-B. ma'am.

Cat T-B. euthanized at Many:Many (2+2+1:2x2x2+2) p.m. Thursday, age Many (2x2x2+2) years Many (2+2+1) months Many (2x2x2x2-1) days.  We, Mrs. T-B., & Mini-B. all simultaneously and tearfully present.  Miu-specialist was very kind and explanatory.  Cat T-B. died in Mini-B.'s lap.  We ordered the ashes and a plaster paw-print.

The hardest thing, experienced first after Previous Cat T-B., was taking away the empty carrier.

We gathered all nondiabetic food and took to neighbor who has Many (2+2+1) cats.  One of them, which we've nicknamed Target because of the unfortunate fur pattern on his side, is very social and is always outside.  We somewhat cheered Mini-B. by telling him that perhaps Target will eat some of Cat T-B.'s food.

Diabetic food/gear will be credited by Chewy.com, which will either take it back or tell us to donate it.  Miu-specialist said that her office would be glad to take it, for in-house use or to donate.  Miu's favorite marshmallow bed is closeted.

We dished the warsher to include the miu-bowls.  Conspicuously missing was miu showing up when dishwarsher started, to inspect the bowl of fresh miu-water on the now really bare floor.

Miu's last pupu, Arby's wrappers, and little fuzzy balls are in the curbsided garbage.  Litterbox pan is out back for the Ecus to warsh later.  We saw older kitten from next door sniff at it.  We opened patio door to tell young miu that resident miu isn't coming back.

Everybody's dying in this aptly named thread, sigh man.

Tbone I'm so sorry.  I know how hard this can be.  The best we can do is wish them to roam free over the rainbow bridge knowing they are free from pain.

We would appreciate the URL for that, si Niki-B. ma'am.

Not as good as yours, Niki-B. ma'am, but...

(Title & Author Unknown)

"I'll lend to you a cat," God said,
"To love while she lives, and mourn when she's dead.
Maybe for 12 or 13 years, or maybe 2 or 3 --
But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for Me?

"She'll bring her charms to gladden you, and should her stay be brief,
You'll always have her memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught below I want this cat to learn.

"I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowd life's land, I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love, not think the labor vain?
Nor hate Me when I come to take My kitty home again?"

And my heart replied at once, "My Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys this cat will bring, the risk of grief I'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness she gives, forever grateful stay.

"But should You call her back to You much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.

"If by our love we've managed Your wishes to achieve,
In memory of her sweet love, please help us while we grieve.
When our cherished kitty departs this world of strife,
Please send another needing soul for us to love all her life."

Sigh, man.

Sorry for your loss TB, I know how hard that is to lose a pet.

Perhaps one day another kitty will appear in your lives. Once told myself after the last time that the pain was too great to try again. Fate had other plans.
