Got my case number today! I called last Tuesday (exactly 3 weeks after approval: noa2 July 7th) and nothing. I called today and they said they received it the 29th, which is the day after I called lol. So it took 3 weeks and a day for them to receive the petition. Normally this would mean we are right around the corner but man this pandemic sucks soooo bad. I talked to my embassy today also and no updates on when they will open. So frustrating. But glad to atleast be at NVC!!!

I don't understand this NVC process at all. My NOA2 date is June 20. NVC received mine on Aug 3. Still no case number.

If I'm in no particular hurry and I don't call or email to get my case number, that's ok right? NVC will send me a letter when my packet is shipped to the embassy?

Yes. But I thinks it's worthwhile to get the DS-160 taken care of. Has to be completed before you schedule medical or interview.

You need your MNL from NVC to complete it

That's not always true. If you updated your email with NVC and requested they inform you when your case gets to NVC and again once it leaves for your embassy they might send you a notice. It's a 50/50 shot at best. It's best to call and get your number!

And what do they say?

Well, up until they received it on August 3, they always asked me to read the first sentence on my NOA2 receipt and then give them the Notice Date.

When I called Monday they said to call back in two weeks.

That’s weird idk how it works but I called today and they said they received it the 29th and it got entered the 30th and they gave me my case number and invoice number. Idk why they are giving you the run around. I would call again try a different person.

Waiting till NVC sends you the hard copy of your NVC case number is the normal process. To save time and to begin moving your process forward, as you are now in charge of what and when something gets done for the interview, most will call to get their case number so they can complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, paying the interview fee and scheduling the interview and the medical exam. So, you can do either, wait or call. I have all the instructions in my PDF that is in anyone of the NOA2 to NVC to Embassy monthly threads. Join the group that your case was approved in and join the conversation.

Also, there is a sub-forum for the Philippines here on VJ that you should be a part of the conversation. It's a good place to read what others are experiencing which will better prepare you for your interview.
