I am waiting on biometric, my previous letter asked to wait so I am a little confused why you guys going on earlier?  Just wondering. .

While they give you an appointment date, it doesn't hurt to check and see if they can accommodate you sooner.....get it done and out of the way, I guess. Worse case scenario is they tell you they can't facilitate you if you show up outside of your appointment date and the office is full.

So far, everyone who went in earlier than their appointment date has been successful (me included) :)

Some places allow walk-ins. So if you have your letter you can stop by and my get it done early.

I am waiting for my appointment time. I live 3h away from the support center and remember from the last time I was there, they had a sign not allowing walk-ins.

I had my biometrics app at 11:00 at Hackensack USCIS center (NJ) and I would like to share my experience:

- According to the USCIS website my office for biometrics should have been Elizabeth (it was in the past) but they sent me to Hackensack instead . It is an small office only for biometrics, no parking around so I am glad that I brought my husband so he could wait for me in the reserved parking area without getting a $100 fine. That is what the security officers kept telling everybody.

-I arrived at 10:30 but they asked to come back at 11:00 . I guess walk ins are not allowed.

-I came back at 10:55. The seating area was full, they said that they were behind schedule.

-When it was my turn , 30 minutes after my original app, they asked me for my passport which I did not bring. I only brought GC and letter. The person that helped us do the forms in 2000 (I-751), changed my name . I don't have a middle name at birth but she decided to add my second last name as a middle name since "it is more common in the US". I already requested to eliminate that middle name on my N-400 form.

-I was sent to an office , the officer told me that they cannot verify my name , she looked in her computer and said that she found an E as a middle name and nothing else. She did not know what that E stands for. So, she asked to come back with an open appointment (any time, M thru F, 8-2 o'clock)  with my marriage license, passport and birth certificate translated.

-I went home disappointed but I remembered that I have a birth certificate copy somewhere. I was really lucky since I found a multilingual copy  from the Civil Registry that they sent me to renew my passport at the Consulate.

-I went back again to the office. It was almost 1:00 pm and it was pretty much empty compared with the morning. I was sent right away to the IO , she checked all the documents and sent me to the biometrics line. They took a picture and fingerprints and went back home.

-I asked for a day off at work so I did not want to waste it. I am glad that it worked out.

Hi Giovanna,

Even though I have a nightmarish relationship with the USPS (brand new home and the builder never registered our address in the database), I received the NOA about 8 days after filing. Biometrics appointment letter showed up about a week after.

Yours should be coming soon!

Had the I-751Interview today.  IO said the I-751 package we provided was awesome.  The actual I-751 interview took 5 minutes.  Just verified some questions on the form and it was approved.  IO was very helpful when I asked why the N400 biometric was in Tampa, FL which is much further away.  The IO called the Ft. Myers, FL ASC to arrange the biometric be done today (was scheduled for January 23 in Tampa, FL).  Biometric was completed today.  Very happy with USCIS Ft. Myers, FL.  N-400 shows scheduled to be completed Nov. 2020.  However, IO said an interview will likely occur within 6-7 months.  Naturalization ceremonies are occurring at Ft. Myers, FL 4 times per week.
