I also beneficiary for my husband (also our daughter). We only pay $208/month; tricare is our insurance. I was complaining the other day why it is so expensive but I guess there are a lot of people out there with way more expensive health insurance 😥 

$208 is a dream! In my state, the lowest cheapest plan for a married couple (we don't have kids) is about $700/month with a $6,000 deductible.

You can add her under your health insurance as a spouse at your workplace but if you have missed the enrollment dates then you will have to get a private health insurance I guess. I had to do the same. I got a health insurance with zero deductibles. You can PM me if you want to know details about it. 👍

I can say that now! My husband has 2 jobs, military and civilian job. Both offers insurance that less than $300/month. We go with the military one because I do not need referral every time I want to go to specialist.My job also offer insurance, less than $300 as well but not as good as military. Oh well, I will not complaint now for sure.

What if I'm (U.S. citizen husband) living abroad with my (foreign) wife and am enrolled in a non-U.S. insurance plan, while maintaining a U.S. based domicile (residence address)? 

 

If we move to the U.S., would I be able to use special enrollment to enroll into a U.S-based plan and immediately add my wife to it?

 

Or would I have to wait until open enrollment, while my wife can use special enrollment?

Change of residence is a QLE for special enrollment. This applies for anybody, not just those initially coming to the US.
