USCIS proposes increasing application fees by 21% or more

Without thinking WHY, but thinking of WHEN... this change..

I really pray to get this date delayed beyond the year 2020 since I can file only at the end of this year.. 🙂 Pretty Selfish right?? but gotta be... its a lot of money for me(two applicants at home at that time).

If I file early and got rejected (for filing earlier than eligible), do they allow me to re-file without repaying the application fee?

Its pretty clear that immigrants whether legal or illegal are no longer welcome here...This price increase across the board is to deter people from wanting to come here anymore.

The fees are based on actual expenses. USCIS funding for processing the requests comes entirely from the fees. It's just a reflection on the current costs, really....not anything to do with wanting or not wanting immigrants. It's the operating costs of USCIS (+ some funding for things like implementing more electronic forms and other initiatives).

 

Across the board? Most fees are barely changed or changed by a few percentage points....not major and often in line with inflation (~2%/year since the last fee increase).

The obvious major exception is the N-400...that fee increase doesn't have an obvious cause.
