Hello,

I filed my husbands AOS (along with the employment & travel authorization) on October 09, 2019. They sent me an email stating they received my case on the 19th. When I was looking up the timeline on how long we are looking at waiting on the USCIS website, it says 11 to 25.5 months 😱. I know this website is not always accurate so I'm just wondering what some others timeline is looking like? Is that time line the USCIS posts just for the AOS or is just to work also? I'm a little flustered at the amount of time it will take because that's so long to support another person, along with my two kids. (And yes, I do meet the financial requirement but that doesn't mean it's easy still lol)

You can see what the experience of other VJ users at your field office is here: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aosstats.php?cfl= , though if you're at a field office without a lot of VJ users, there won't be a large number of data points so one or two really fast or really slow cases (or erroneous data entry) can skew the numbers there.

Generally (though this is not a guarantee) AOS from a K-1 comes in under the lower end of the 'official' processing time for family-based AOS at your field office, which shouldn't be a surprise because the 'official' ranges are supposed to be for from when ~50% of cases are complete to ~90% of cases, and K-1 AOSes are usually pretty straightforward (plus the applicant usually had an interview with the state department for their visa less than a year ago).

I would say it is pretty accurate.  Our LFO here in Seattle has a similar processing timeline for AOS.  Yesterday was our first anniversary, and we are close to one year of waiting for an interview.  We were lucky in that my husband's combo card only took about 4 months to be issued.  Recent experiences here on VJ seem to indicate that it is taking longer now.

I know this is a small detail but for other newbies reading, ensure you are scrolling to the bottom of the processing times website and looking for the Family based timeline. It's pretty much negligible for the OP (half a month) but for others it might not be.

Also ensure you double check your LFO using your zipcode here: (https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices) as it's not necessarily the city you live in and not based on where you did biometrics. And even then, if you're "lucky" you may get transferred to another LFO which is usually farther away but faster.

The 11-25.5 months processing time is for the AOS itself, not the advanced parole or work permit. The work permit should come in a couple of months (I think ours took about 4 months). Then you can renew it if you must before you get the AOS (it takes about 2-3 months to renew, so don't wait til the last minute).

My renewal took 9 months to complete (filed 12/28/2018; approved 09/20/2019). The EAD part of my combo card was automatically extended by 180 days because I applied for the renewal before the card expired: https://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/automatic-employment-authorization-document-ead-extension

Has your EAD or AP gone through? Or is the interview for the EAD?

There is no separate interview for the EAD.

This is for the I-485 and the estimated approval for EAD & AP is early December. It keeps switching from mid November to early December  🤷‍♂️

Since you will interview for GC soon,  you don't care about the EAD or AP anymore

YMMV
