Expedite question

I asked my attorney to apply for expedition because of some unusual circumstances( i don't wantto go over them), lawyer said he did it, i kinda doubt it if he did.

Its been two weeks since he told us he did apply for expedition, we haven't gotten any update or letter stating that uscis recieved request for expedition,  nor my lawyer told us to pay any fee.

   My question is:

1)is there any fee for expedition?

2) is there any update either online or via mail that such request have been recieved?

  Thank you so much.

Your lawyer should be able to detail what was done.  If you do not trust him, you can always try to expedite on your own.

Do you get a notification though?

And is there any fee for that process?

These 2 questions will help me figure out , lawyer office unfortunately have a bad customer service and I just dont want to get rid of him after spending money

No fee as far as I know. Maybe the lawyer will charge your for making the expedite request...

You should be able to track the inquires online. Not sure if all kind of inquires shows up there or only the one made online. Somebody hopefully who went thru expediting requests will know...

You can track a phone request online as well.

If they require more information, normally they request it to be provided via fax within a few days. They don't always request more info.

A decision on an expedite sometimes takes days or weeks. Two weeks alone would not be a sign that he/she did not make the request.

1) No USCIS fee.

2) There should have been assigned a case/receipt number if made online or via phone, which can be tracked using the same 2 case trackers you use for the petition.

If the lawyer made the request via mail...well...no idea if you get anything in response to acknowledge it or how long that takes.

Just FYI, there are specific criteria for expediting.

When I did our expedite I received a reference number over the phone, and then about 3 weeks later received the letter requesting the evidence for the expedite and where to fax it to. I faxed everything over on a Friday, then had approval the next day? I think it was a little fast like they approved it before they received my information, but if they want proof, you should be seeing a letter soon asking for proof.

I’m sure your lawyer would charge you a fee for handling it, or do you think he did it out of the kindness of his heart?

That is what i am thinking too.

I offered him fee , and asked him if i need to send proof.

He replied after 3 weeks that he applied for expedition and never asked fee

I think there’s your answer then, from my experience, lawyers do nothing for free... I’d be looking to USCIS for answers, but doubt you’ll get any unfortunately.... you should get a reciept for the expedite but you could be waiting a month or two for nothing.... apply pressure on lawyer for evidence of submission
