I met my fiancé last year on my birthday. His mother and my mother are childhood best friends. He lives in Trinidad and I live in the states. I was born in Trinidad, but left when I was 8 and have been in the states ever since. I plan to file for him, but we are trying to figure out what we can do to make the process faster. He has kids 18 and 3. We only plan to file for his 3yr old once he is settled in here. We also need to know what the process is for that. What documents do I the US citizen need to place with the packet? What information should I and shouldn’t I put in the packet?

This is the biggest misconception of people have with immigration. They believe they can make the process faster.

Not possible. Trust me, if there was a way, this board would have it on the front page.

You are looking at about a year before he steps foot in the US, and that is if everything goes good. Best you can do is prepare.

Here are the guides...

Unfortunately, "faster" wouldn't be an option in this matter.  Do read the content section for the K-1 visa guide and then go from there.

The only thing you can do to make the process faster is read all about, get as much information as you can so hopefully you'll have a smooth process.

There is no shortcuts, but getting it right the first time helps a lot.

Wishing you the best of luck!

The mother is young and can’t handle having a new born and a 3yr old. My fiancé has he son more than she does.

But has she provided (or is she willing to provide) written consent to immigrate? That will be needed.

Just because she is willing to let him help her out by taking the older child more often whilst the other is young doesn’t mean she will let him take the child out of the country. Were they married when they had the children? Does he have any legal court appointed custody? What are the custody laws like in the country for children born to unmarried parents if they weren’t married?

They weren’t married. From past conversations I don’t see her having a problem with him bringing his son to the states.

I am sure she will.
