She will try to get a job. But how can I buy insurance if she does not do job?

Buying insurance is just like buying anything else. You do research and pick the best item that fits your needs.

You can google "health insurance" or "medical insurance" and get pages of results. Contact them and get quotes. If you want to go through the ACA marketplace, you can go here... https://www.healthcare.gov/

Finding health insurance is not difficult if you are willing to pay. The difficult part is the high cost that shock people. We have seen previous members report that they were getting quoted $600 plus per month for their parent.

The requirement says 364 days so no its not an option to just buy coverage until one would find a job, also I’d like to know the insurance options and ball park prices.

Then hit the Exchange put in your details and see.

Hello,

First I’d like to say I have read all 22 pages of this and it was worth it as I found out a lot insightful and informative information which will help me in the future. But I need to know about my case from well informed individuals here.

So, my wife will be applying CR-1 for me later this year here’s few things about our journey.

- My wife is on disability and she herself is on Medicare.

- Her Mom will be sponsoring for me.

- I plan to buy an individual insurance (364 days one)

My question to you guys is Should I buy the insurance right now for I-130 package or at NVC stage or at Interview stage? Furthermore, would They consider if I have insurance in my country or that doesn’t matter at all?

I would start researching now......because weighing all the coverage, cost, deductible, and other factors will take some time........It isn't as easy as selecting a plane ticket.  It can be a little complicated.........

I seriously doubt your Insurance in India would cover you in the US, as you are looking at moving in 2021 check what the situation is nearer the time.

Thanks for the reply. But how many years of insurance will have to buy in advance?

I think we are going about this backwards, you want to bring your Mother, you seem uncertain as to whether she will work, why?, so what is her long term plan to cover her Health care costs, is she independently wealthy?

We are discussing and making sure we get the right one as I am typing this... but how about I-130 package... do I have to buy insurance right now to include them in I-130 package or I can provide it in later stages?

I have seen nothing that suggests the health insurance documentation is required at the time of I-130 submission.  I would wait.

You can not obtain a tax credit, obviously you need an income to benefit from a tax credit.
