Hi,

So my 10 year green card will expire in just under 6 months. I'm working on applying via form I90 online and there was a question about where my entry was granted. I'm not sure if that's Jacksonville or if I supposed to put USCIS, Consulate...

Also, for those who have done this before can I pay online?

How long does it take?

Do I need to do biometrics again? What should I expect?

Note, I was married 9 years and been divorced for the past 3 years.

Im sure I'm good to go there.

Thank you

Sue

Hi Sue

Your place of admission would be Jacksonville.

Not sure about how you pay but I would assume once you're in the 90 day window of your expiration you can do it.

Check out the processing times here:

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

You'd most likely have to do biometrics again yes. You'll go in for a picture and fingerprints. No interview, nothing too crazy :)

This is showing 11 to 12 months? That cant be right if you have to wait for the green card to expire within 6 months right?

OP is filing the I-90. The window opens 6 months before it expires: https://www.uscis.gov/i-90 "(F ) My card will expire within six months or has already expired."

"If you file your form online, the system will guide you through the process of paying your fees with a credit, debit, or pre-paid card. Bank account withdrawals are also available when paying online. Once you are ready to submit your form, the system will automatically direct you to the secure Department of Treasury site, pay.gov, to pay your fees online. We only use pay.gov to process fees. Always check the website address before you pay. Beware of scam websites and scammers who may pretend to be a USCIS website."

Thank you so much,  I'm starting to feel a little better.

Will I be able to track the progress.

Once I've applied and paid, does anyone know what the steps are after that?

You will get the usual NOA receipt which will act as evidence of your ongoing status.  Carry the NOA  and the expired GC until you receive the new GC

The I-90 receipt notice doesn't extend the validity of the I-551. For current employers, reverification shouldn't be done: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/71-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr "Cards with a 10 year expiration date have no conditions and should not be reverified." For new employers (after the card's expirarion date), OP can present a List B and List C document combination. Or OP can try to get an I-551 stamp in the foreign passport; that's a List A document.

You can get a extension on GC at the time of biometric . The supervisor at ASC can put a tiny sticker on the nearly expire GC and extended it for another 6 months while you waiting for a new one.
