Hey guys,

My husband and I recently moved to an area that is not so in the middle of nowhere so I'm gathering my paperwork to file for my citizenship, however I am from a country that was included in the travel ban. Everything I've read about the topic points to the travel ban not being an issue for permanent residents, but I've been out of the immigration game for so long, I honestly just want to double check and make sure.

Thanks!

Make sure you are living where you recently moved (if in a completely different State) for at least 3 months before filing the N400 (from the instructions page):

3. You have lived within the state or USCIS district where you claim residence for at least 3 months prior to filing;

Hopefully someone will chime in regarding the travel ban---I haven't really been following all the ins and outs regarding that.

thanks! yeah I'm preparing to file sometime in December, it will be well past the 3 month mark by then.

As far as the travel ban goes, i found this https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-implementation-jan-27-executive-order

but I'm wondering if there is anything more recent on the topic.

I can predict a probably delay in your background check due to the country of origin---but nothing else really affecting it.

Agree with the above. So the earlier you apply (but wait 3 months if you moved to another state), the sooner you'll become a citizen, and then any future travel bans will have little impact on you. Good luck!

. . . Just curious why did the Dumptard place a travel ban in the first place?

Supposedly the countries that are part of the travel ban have a higher terrorism risk... i dk i dont remember the last time i saw a north korean or iranian terrorist

What country are you from?

You have nothing to worry about if you have no form of.terrorist associations or tendencies

Good job at bringing politics into play here.

The main reason is that the countries on the list do not readily share information with the USG like other countries do. When I mean share information I mean like share terrorist, PCCs, and various other criminal data. Not to mention some of these countries have no significant government in place.

I believe he used the countries in the ban previously identified by the beloved Mr. Obama, it's all cult of personality eh?

I agree, maybe some increased scrutiny but you should be good to go, good luck in your endeavor
