This is what happens when you let a man who has "a better idea" for breakfast dissuade you from cooking. I thought we were going out for brunch but he marched me into a donut shop. "Score one for the patriarchy," he said.

For me it's the opposite. I actually get to blame my wife. I used to always ask her why she buys a giant pie if she's only going to eat one piece. She knows what's going to happen to the other 7 pieces.

Blame the patriarchy for enabling a society in which men think it's okay to even contemplate eating seven pieces of pie. :D

Actually, the score today ended up being Patriarchy 5: Layla 0. In addition to the donut (he had two), there were also two public swats on the bottom (2), much one-sided discussion over dinner of the usefulness of F# as a programming language for quant work (arguably 1), and a nap before dinner that involved VERY loud snoring while I was trying to read a novel (definitely 1). I lost today to The Man but I will live to fight another day.

I don't actually think it's OK to do that. It's really not on many levels, but I also don't like to waste food. I never actually buy "junk food" myself. I don't really ever crave it. At the same time, if I do buy something like a box of cookies, I could probably eat the whole box before I notice that I ate the whole box. So my preference is to just not to have junk food around.

Anyway I convinced my wife a long time ago that it really works out better for both of us if she just buys the single serving slice of pie.

I don't keep much in the way of treats here -- it helps that I live in a small studio with really only a glorified kitchenette, so I tend to shop nearly every day and what I keep in the fridge is generally pretty healthy. Going out to eat is reserved for weekends only, since that's the only time he and I are together. His cupboards and freezer tend to contain only what I think of as "bachelor chow": Hormel chili, tinned sardines (those are at least healthy) and Hot Pockets. Hot Pockets! Now, don't get me wrong, I used to have a thing for Hot Pockets myself -- they do tend to go nicely with some boxed wine :P but I haven't had one since 2010.

I don't pay a lot of attention to what she says. Most Democrats don't. I know she takes up a lot of bandwidth in the media because she has a big megaphone and says provocative things which may have a kernel of truth in them. It doesn't hurt that she's attractive and young and pretty much lives to drive conservatives crazy. When people on the right repeat what she has said about this or that, all they're doing is adding a little bit of volume to that megaphone. She's not nearly as influential as the media would have you believe.

Are you sure?

Well the DNC are trying to stop the take over by Activists, just look to see what AOC needed to win, she just needed a relatively few Activists to win the Primary.

The issue is the size of the Megaphone, and the likes of Warren etc who seem to think that is who they need to pander to to win.

Not just Elizabeth, the majority of the candidates are embracing a lot of what "the Squad" is promoting which to me is basically hardcore socialism.  Old Joe and Sen. Klobuchar may be the exception, but all the other moderates have pretty much dropped out.

Well, it's a good thing the Democratic candidate is selected by (mostly) Democratic voters! Nice to hear what others have to say, of course, but ultimately it will come down to what both candidates have to offer. Personally, I can't see for me how Trump could ever get my vote. Some of what some of the Democratic candidates is saying is not to my liking, too far out there. But conservatives should realize that a lot of what Trump and the Republicans embrace and promote as policies looks really out there and radical to liberals/progressives/etc. No one side has a lockdown on centrism. What may look like centrism or radicalism to you will appear otherwise to someone else, someone who may be just as commonsense as you believe yourself to be.

Also, it's not right to say that all the so-called "centrists" have left the race. Who has left so far? Inslee, Hickenlooper, Moulton, Swalwell and Gillibrand. In my opinion, Inslee should have stayed in. But I doubt many Republicans would call Inslee a centrist. Gillibrand's not a centrist. Moulton -- I had to look up that he was even in the race! So you're really only talking about Hickenlooper, and maybe Swalwell (again, doubt he could be called a centrist). Bennet's still in, Bullock's still in, Delaney's still in, Ryan's still in.

See, actually if you listen to what Trump says, and his policies without judging the person through the lens of the biased mainstream media, you would see he is extremely moderate, and in fact has some very liberal views on somethings.  Btw, who are the last four names you mentioned?  Were they on the stage last week?

Lastly, don’t forget about the superdelegates.  Sure there was some reform there and now only a third of the SDs (senior party officials, elected Dems and governors) are free to vote their choice, but it certainly could tip the scales.

Trump has been around and in the public eye as long as I have been alive. Nobody needs the media to tell us what to think about him. His unpopularity is not just because of what he has done today. It is also the result of his actions over a long course of time.
