All this talk about makeup and clogging up bathrooms with tons of junk. Nonsense. All my stuff is in the bedroom on my dresser in  my makeup box. Makeup only goes on my face when I need to go somewhere fancy. Otherwise there are some ladies that don't care to be bothered with the nonsense of spending ages to put it on, have your eyes and face itch like the devil, and spend more ages to take it off. I also cannot stand bathroom hoggers, so I wouldn't tolerate a messy hogged bathroom from anyone. The only thing of mine in the bathroom, is shampoo, soap, and a towel. Creating a ''fresh or nude face look' with more makeup is just another gimmick. You either go without and have your guy love your face for you, or you put it on with varying degrees of slather.  :)

This is one of the reasons why I cannot stand lady-mags. Telling us how to look and feel to be loved.

For my wife, it is not about make-up, but rather skin and facial stuff (masks, creams, etc.).  She actually uses very little makeup.

I really focus on skincare too. I don't go in for the 10-step K beauty routine, but I do start with regular visits to the dermatologist and I prefer Space NK and Creme de la Mer products. I get a chemical peel monthly too. I've worn sunblock every day since I was 12, and I have yet to see a single wrinkle. My mom tells me that the no wrinkles is probably also down to not having any kids!

There's a difference between a "nude face look" which is a ton of products applied judiciously, and taking your time creating a no makeup look with makeup. As I mentioned before, I keep it simple with BB cream, which is light but makes everything look smoother and radiant. I recently changed over to the Bobbi Brown BB cream and I can't recommend it enough. NOT gloopy or pretending to be a foundation -- just evens everything out and keeps me moisturized and glowy. For mascara, I used to use Diorshow exclusively, but I got persuaded to try a couple of the Tom Ford mascaras (Emotionproof and Ultra Length) and now I'm hooked. I'm a strawberry blonde, and my lashes NEED definition, so a little mascara is a must. Lipstick/lip gloss is my real vice though -- I won't go into details on how many, and which, and which brands, because that would be an even bigger waste of everyone's time. :P

Want to create a no makeup look in no time? Don't wear makeup!

I remember the first time in my life I went to a makeup counter and dropped a ridiculous amount on makeup. It was for my wedding. I left the store honestly feeling like a ridiculous clown. Don't get me wrong. I like fashion, jewelry, and shoes as much as any other woman, but the rest of it to me feels like a cheap act and a huge waste of money. But then I'm not a rich gal, we got to be thrifty with our cash. There's more important things for me to spend money and time on.

I get you. I own up to being swayed by the stupid messages in the media that tell me how I should look, and shouldn't look. I also listen too much to my sister, who is part of the image-making industry (she's a talent agent) who very happily will tell me I look like $^!@ if I don't wear this or that. I rarely go outside without at least the mascara (I look dead without it) except for trips to the derm. But sunblock needs to be a part of everyone's daily routine.

But yeah, my mister is just as happy to see me without all of it on so I 100% know this is internalized junk I've swallowed wholesale on how "best" to be a woman. There really isn't a "best" way, you just exist as you are if you're a woman (cis or trans or whatever, must make that clear for @Boiler's benefit).

It's like this thing I read once, years ago that stuck with me about how dumb all this performative woman-ness is:

Q: What's the best way to get a bikini body?

A: Put a bikini on your body.

Plus 1000!!  I love it when my wife goes without makeup.  And I try to make her realize just how much better her skin would become in time without all those chemicals designed to clog/unclog/clog/unclog her pores.

Yeah.. I mean I guess people don't realize that makeup pretty much contains a lot of chemicals.. even insects.. but then it's how they test all those things that make me pretty annoyed about it. I am allergic to most stuff, so I have to be careful even with occasional use. But to even get that makeup to stick to my face I have to put a bunch of other junk on it. MAC actually used to have a pretty good cleanser/softener that even worked well for rosacea and psoriasis, all in one bottle. But of course they have now split all of the components into three different bottles, at $30-$60 a piece. C'mon...

We don't need makeup to be beautiful. Wrinkles are a fact of life.

I'm not a fan of sunblock.  It could turn out to be ok, but I dread finding out in a few years that it's causing some new form of cancer.  I rarely use it, hate how it feels on my skin.  Tastes horrible and burns the eyes when I sweat.

I think sunscreen is important, as long as it is a hypoallergenic one and is free of hard chemicals. My dad has had skin cancer many times, and never wore sunscreen in his youth, so I do think that it's important to take care in the sun. But my dad was also exposed to tobacco on a constant basis, and is now finding himself with bigger problems because of it.

When I use to manufacture scent elimination products, we had to go to all kind of special measures to ensure no Zinc got into the surrounding environment, because of EPA regs  but yet its the number one ingredient in most sun screens.

Well, there ARE women who post in here! And some men like to wear BB and CC cream, it's basically just tinted moisturizer with some extra ingredients. War Paint is a brand targeted to men for example, concealers and stuff.

I used to use coconut oil, but you can only listen to people ask if you can smell coconuts so many times before it starts to drive you crazy.

I have NO IDEA what BB and CC creams are.  Never heard of them.

Well, that's probably true. But I dress to please myself more than anyone else. When I think I look nice, I feel more confident. And when I feel more confident, I feel happier. What's the sin in that?
