Hello

I justvreceived some bad news today...

My I485 through martiage was denied on Sept 17. I was putting my VAWA application in order and it is ready for filing. On Thursday I have a hearing regarding restraining order. Now - file VAWA or no? What are my options?

Temporary restraining order is in place for 15 days. Now after receiving this letter today I feel like a zombie

You don't have to feel bad..others have been there before...go ahead and file your VAWA. You can always file a new i485 based in a pending i360! Believe me..you'll be alright!👍

Hi everyone

I just came back to the States using my advance travel parole document and wanted to share my experience, as other experiences gave me courage to travel without fear so I want to return the favor and encourage others to travel.

I arrived at JFK NYC and went to the first officer, I gave him my passport and my travel document and he took my fingerprints and was so polite about everything, escorted me to the small room and said it’s a normal procedure. At the second room, the officer was also super polite and only asked me to show him my marriage certificate as I changed my last name (in my passport is my maiden name and on travel document my married name) and that was it. He stamped my passport and told me I was good to go.

It was such an easy process and I was panicking 2 months before my travel, I couldn’t sleep because of anxiety but it wasn’t troubled at all!

I want to say that I traveled to 2 different countries and stayed for 5 weeks in total. No question asked at all. I also overstayed my visa for 4.5 years and have pending VAWA case since Aug 2018. No questions about that either.

Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences but special thanks to @FeDaniela and @aquila for their kind words and encouragements.

Good luck to us all

Welcome home 🏡

hi, welcome back home i just wanted to ask you what does a travel document looks like? is it just a paper or is it a small blue color booklet? i have applied for travel document last week and USCIS just cleared the $575 payment for my travel document application. Can you tell me how long it took you to get it? I am also a Vawa applicant but I applied in July 2017.

Thanks, any input will be much appreciated.

I will also listen to what will be answered.
My divorce lawyer is not responding to me. How can I get this document.
There was no divorce, but will be soon. In general, I need this document to be sent to my country.
I have a court address. And if no one answers, I will write to the court and find out ...
Perhaps you should know in which court the divorce proceedings were in order to call or write there (to them)

This is what I did to get my spouse’s divorce decree:

I went back to the court where we marriage certificate to get the marriage license we filled out. In the form, there is a field that you will fill that shows number of divorces and where(county and/or state) they took place. After getting the year and the location, I called the court clerk in that county to request the certificate. How did I get his number? I googled it.And, I supplied them with my spouse’s name, date and place of birth. I was given a choice of getting it by either a method of walk-in or mail. Because I lived in another state, I chose a mail method. The clerk gave me my spouse’s certificate case number via the phone to address my letter.

In case you don’t know your spouse personal information, google it using background check websites.

I abhor rereading for edition, so apologies for the convoluted sentences.

Hey y'all, first of all I Wan to thank you guys for answering all my questions and just being so encouraging with your posts and sharing your experiences. I have another question, can I present anything that took place before marriage like during the relationship phase as evidence, like messages, proof of him sending money etc that happened during relationship before marriage, or does evidence have to be from during the marriage

The beginning wasn't marriage...it was courtship! Start from the begining, collect everything collectible! It counts!😊👍

Include that in your personal affidavit and explain your relation before marriage and after marriage in detail

It's extremely important to mention about the Courtship.USCIS will not take into consideration the abuse suffered before getting married tho.
