Well I am probably going blind and can not see the DUI being mentioned, somewhat relevant to the story.

 

Always wonder what else is missing.

 

The other version I saw and how many are out there I do not know sort of suggested the daughter was of both of them, wonder where the Father is?

 

Obviously having married she could have gone the legal route, would have been in Mexico for a week or so, wonder why she did not?

 

2 years, possible but I would add a few months. That is assuming there is nothing else.

It does say it but it says that "she was caught while driving intoxicated". She came into the country illegally and married a USC. But in all that time they never even tried to make her status legal. So the onus is on them.

The DUI has no bearing on the story, other than she broke the law.  But wait!! She broke the law when she paid someone to smuggle her into the country.   Illegally.

 

She can now apply for a marriage visa, and LPR status.  Which she SHOULD have done sometime in the past 20 years.  Depending on her ban, she will likely end up here sooner rather than later.

She went to jail and when she was in jail they found out she was here illegally which kicked off the eventual deportation, no DUI no Deportation.

Yeah, that’s how she got caught.  Silly her.

 

What I find pretty amusing is their plea to the judge/courts to take into account that she has a husband and daughter, and should be allowed to stay.  How many THOUSANDS of illegal immigrants have thought that they “deserved” a different ruling?  Kind of like the bank robber asking a court to keep them out of jail because their grandfather served in WW2.

Of course it was written from the perspective that ICE is populated by “jack-booted thugs”.
