Hi guys, 

my husband and I are enrolled in the Marketplace are are getting our health insurance coverage through that - we are paying abot 30% of the whole price.
I just heard that the public charge rule changed at the end of last month (Feb 24th) and I was wondering if getting tax credits through the marketplace is considered public charge now?
I called both USCIS and healthcare.gov and they were unaware of the public charge change... 😐

Little update: interview is scheduled for April 16h and revived the EAD card today in the mail! Question: I applied for SSN through the EAD, does someone know how long it takes to get the number? Thanks!!

We had our interview yesterday in the Chicago Field Office. The interviewer was very nice and talked to us for 45 minutes. First checked ID and passport for both of us. Next did bio-metric check by taking his pictures and scanning both index fingers. We took the oath and she asked for few documents and verify information on the application. Next was requesting any new documents utility bills, joint account, medical insurance etc. After all said and done she asked us to tell her our story and we started telling her how we met and how our family reacted to our engagement.  We gave her pictures (so many pictures lol) of us in UAE, NYC, Chicago, Florida etc. She took many pictures as evidence to add to our file and was glad that we were so organized. We were told we are approved and handed over letter with approval. She mentioned she will not hold case for review and approval will be right away. As of this morning our case says approved. Only thing she did not ask for was the medical I-693 form. We had the sealed envelope and remembered last night that she never asked for it. We are very happy and looking forward to getting his GC soon. Also, she mentioned that if you have a SS card to go back to office once the GC arrives to remove the condition on it. 

 

Praying everyone has an interview as easy as ours! She was very nice and we loved talking to her. 

Did they ask a lot about your time in UAE? What type of questions did they ask?

Our case was put back in the scheduling queue due to the C-virus. I guess we will get a new notification when the offices open again.

Aug. 28th Notified of RFE being mailed

Sept. 1st received hard copy of RFE in the mail

Sept. 4th mailed response to RFE

Sept. 10th received txt that my response to RFE was received

Oct. 10th Received txt that we were approved (NOA2) 30days after RFE response

Oct. 13th received hard copy of NOA2

Oct. 31st case arrived at NVC

Nov 2nd received case number

Nov. 19th Case is "ready" to schedule an interview

Gotcha after I read this I checked ours and ours did the same our interview was suppose to be today too we however haven't received any letter from them... so thankful that we received the combo card before all this happened

Glad we did as well. Hopefully we will be reschedule in April or May or at least before our EAD expires in Dec. I don't want to apply for an extension.

One year. We would need to reapply around August or September if we don't get the GC before then.

I know this probably has been asked before but, how long after the EAD card arrived in mail have you received the SSN? I received mine on the 19th and I know it’s too little wait still but I was just wondering thanks!!

I received my SSN 3 days after I got EAD card on hand😀😀 Just give a little more wait during this Corona time. Hopefully you will receive yours soon!
