People with EAD's/AP's/AoS's never took this long as it is now. Now im talking 2012-2015 vs 2018-2019. I'm information and data geek.

It'll take hell lot of time, but i think a lot of people here would be interested to see. Both family I485s and N400s have about doubled in processing time from 2015 to 2019. I130s are up from 6 to 10 months in the same time frame.  EAD/AP is up to 4 months, compared to 2.2 months in 2015.

Why processing of i485 is quicker for asylums etc than people who pay 1000+$ fee?

My guess is: the sense of urgency/danger to the applicant? That would be the whole reason for asylum, that there is some kind of imminent threat at hand. No idea if this is the official reason but that's my guess.

Yeah. So in a nutshell USCIS prefers Asylum seekers working sooner than the K-1 filers, which are being forced to work under the table, just because USCIS prefers Asylum seekers.. 

It's weird preference system that they have. USCIS desperately needs some kind of overhaul of the procedures and preferences. K-1's now are the most screwed up filers in the whole system because of the extended processing times, which makes absolutely no sense. We're 5 months in EAD/AP processing with no end in sight. It's just nuts.. I appreciate the possibility of moving my loved one to US as it's a privilege, but.. i mean.. come on.. 

The other week my friends and i had a laugh that it's easier to jump the fence and get paperwork, rather than going through K-1. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I literally unfollowed everyone on IG who said "help the asylum seekers". Those Californian celebrities? Yeah, them.. Reading just the headlines and "yeah we gotta help them, screw the people who are actually following the law"..

I loved the words, i'm not sure who said it, and whether it's exact quote but it went something like "Democracy is gonna eat itself" or "democracy is gonna outlaw itself". You get the gist. 

 

I would have no problems with Asylum seekers, if they just DID something and were processed separately. Mandatory english courses, Community services, something to "pay back" for the help they are getting. 40hrs of community service. Help people who help you. Now they're being basically everything given for no apparent reason..

Most Asylum applications have no basis, I have seen 80% mentioned so I believe the idea was to get the m processed and reject as soon as possible. People game the system knowing there would be years before they were processed and then decades of appeals.

I have it on reliable authority that AOS for those with asylum status is on the same timetable as for regular AOS.

AOS fees are the same unless the asylees also submit the I-912 Fee Waiver and it's approved.

Is a K1 applicant in danger? No. A legit asylum seeker? Yes. A K1 applicant should, if they've done their research, know they need to wait until they can work and if the USC can't deal with that financially they should opt to get married and file spousal visa.

I have no problems with legit ones, as you said. We chose K1 for a reason, knowingly. But additional stuff besides that is infuriating because of certain circumstances, including the ones without "legit" word attached to them .
