Hello everybody! Does anybody know how long is the average time to receive the green card approval after biometrics? I know every case is different but in general how long can it be? Thanks! Wishing everybody to hear good news soon

It’s really hard to say, unfortunately. There were multiple members who got their biometrics done the same week as me and ended up getting approved within the next two months, while others (like me) have been waiting well over 200 days.

Forever wishing for an eye-roll reaction.

I agree. It is weird. You may want to check with them once over the phone.

My biometrics was completed in October 2018. Online status also showed biometrics attached to case. But yesterday i received a letter from them with an appointment date and time for biometrics. Isn't it weird to receive a letter for biometrics when it is already done almost a year and a half ago?

Did anyone receive an appointment letter for biometrics after the biometrics was already completed? It is so confusing and frustrating to wait so long after biometrics and then to receive a letter to do biometrics. Why would i do biometrics again?

Biometrics can expire and you have to do it again, not obeying can result in a denial.

Thank you for your message. Yes that may be right. I think i will do my biometrics again.

After your reply, this is what i read somewhere online:

Your biometrics expired before your application was processed. The biometrics and associated background check are valid for 15 months. If it has taken longer than that for USCIS to process your marriage-based green card application, you will have to get your biometrics taken a second time.

15 months

Biometrics data is considered valid for a period of 15 months. Therefore, it's very common for applicants to attend multiple biometrics appointment. This can occur if an application or petition is pending for several months or the person has requested a separate immigration benefit from USCIS.

I guess it depends on who is doing the processing. Apparently my file was lost the with the first green card application. So, I had my biometrics done in Jan 2016 and did not have an interview until September 2017. Was not required to have another biometrics done. But again, they said my file had been "misplaced".

Guess its different. Don't know what the criteria is based on different scenarios. A file lost? Wow that is something.

i read online that a lot of people had to do biometrics twice.

More "something" to me that it was stated when I asked those in a higher position to assist me. Who knows. By the looks of the office of the officer who interviewed us, I could understand. She had files all over. On the floor, on a table. All falling over on top of one another.

😀. Yes, it a lot depends on the officer, office, moods. I will check if the offices will be open due to tge Coronavirus situation and theb accordingly go for 2nd time biometrics.

I have a dumb question for ROC, biometrics appointment is taken in Nebraska service center location or in USCIS ASC near you?

I have seen other posts where they talk it takes long time for scheduling biometrics if your receipt starts LIN**

Biometrics is done locally, the petition is handled regionally

Does anyone know how long after the 2nd biometrics does it take for greencard approval?

My first biometrics was done in October 2018, and 2nd one is scheduled for next week. (March 2020) which is 17 months after the 1st biometrics

I think your situation is so out of normal that anyone would be at best guessing if they gave you a timetable. Have you engaged your congressman or senator as of yet?
