  1. I think not every state was enforcing the law where you need to be a LPR or citizen in order to re-new/obtain the CDL so he did it in a different state.
  2. Hello I don't remember whether you can contact your alderman or your congressman about your case. I know I did it for my case but I don't recall who it was. We are trying to see if alderman/congressman involvement may move the case forward. Can someone tell me whether it is the alderman or congressman? Thank you.
  3. I will have to check with my attorney but I think at this point it may be pointless to submit this. But I believe the attorney said that since my dad has an income, then I technically am financially responsible for my mom. I am not 100% sure but I will check with my attorney.
  4. Thanks for your input and I am a qualifying relative. If that was not the case, my lawyer would have informed us.
  5. She has not said anything about him not working and I have contacted the lawyer about expediting the case but my assumption is that since we are still within the processing window, expediting my dad's case will be turned down or not accepted. My dad is working for a trucking company.
  6. Not dodging questions here. All of this (i.e my dad getting his SSN and his CDL) happened 20 years ago and 10 years ago, respectively, so it is hard for me to remember. Also during that time, I was in school, so to be honest, I was not thinking about such matters then. Now that I am able to help my parents out, I am just seeking the opinion of people on this forum. I understand that each case is different but out of stress, I am trying to see what others have experienced in a similar situation.
  7. His SSN was not stolen or fake. I know that as his dependent back in the day, I did have an ITIN number but he has a SSN. I believe issuing SSN was easier prior to 9/11 and after that event, some states did issue out SSN. I believe that is how he got it. When we were filling out the application, everything was filled out correctly. My parents and I know that they can't travel. And yes, I know that as the petitioner it is my duty to support my parents financially and I am ready to do that but I need to have a plan set with my parents. Just speaking my mind. My father is still working, the problem is that after 6/17, he won't be able to be a truck driver because that is when he needs to go and re-new his CDL.
  8. Disturbing is a strong word to use here, just my opinion. All I know is that he has been working and paying for his taxes. I would find it concerning if he worked but he did not pay his taxes. He has always tried to do things legally. He has never claimed to be a US citizen. We hired a lawyer for my parents and their AOS cases.
  9. Yes, I know that. My dad has been doing his taxes for a long time now. And I understand your statement about USCIS not expediting my dad's case because he hasn't been working with proper work authorization. But to my dad's defense, he has always done things legally. He held a job as a janitor at a Chase bank, and I would think that they wouldn't hire him if they believed it was not legal but it seems to me that the requirements to work legally are wishy-washy. All of this aside, I am just worried that he will not get his EAD in time and when I say I am worried, I am worried for his mental state. He will stress about this. That is all. I know every case is different and some cases get approved quicker than others. Tourist Visa in 2001.
  10. Well, I do not know then but he has always held a job. The difference now is that renewing your CDL requires certain documents as I have mentioned above.
  11. I believe that he went to a different state to renew his CDL but now the requirement to renew CDL is US citizen, LPR or EAD.
  12. Unfortunately not. He got lucky that he was able to renew it the last time but since then, the requirements for CDL have become tighter.
  13. Hello In January I became a US citizen and in March, my parents have applied for AOS. My mom did not have a SS# but my dad did. My mom received her EAD card a month ago but my dad's case is still in review. My dad desperately needs his EAD approved before 6/17 as he is a truck driver. I will be able to support my parents financially after 6/17 if my dad does not receive his EAD but I know this will stress him out and it will bring him down. He loves being a truck driver. I know that USCIS works at their own pace and I do not believe we can expedite it as we are probably still within the processing window but just thought I would get on here and see what others are experiencing. I wish I knew someone who works at the Chicago USCIS office but I don't think that would help (asking the person to look into the status of my dad's case). Thank you. Timeline (Parents): 3/17/2023: Case was Received and a Receipt Notice Was Sent (Dad and Mom) 4/14/2023: Biometrics Done/Case is Being Actively Reviewed by USICS (Dad and Mom) 4/14/2023: Card is being Produced (Mom) 4/22/2023: Card was Produced (Mom) 4/25/2023: Card was Delivered (Mom) *Had to go to SSA office to request the number and card as USCIS did not send the approved I-765 form to SSA. Went in the SSA office 5/24/2023 and we should be expecting a SSA card in two weeks.
