K1 visa yellow package torn about 5cm, help!

Hi! 

 

I received my K1 yellow package in good condition (no tear) but the envelope got caught onto my bag zipper while I was packing so one of the sides now has about 5cm tear  Read about other cases like mine but most of them have tears that are very small (2-3 cm). I was wondering whether will I get denied if I have such tear on my envelope? Shall I contact my embassy again to re-seal it?

Mine was delivered with a tear (weird

bc the outside package wasn’t torn), and while it was pretty small, I didn’t want to risk it, so I had it resealed.

Contact your embassy just to be sure

That tear looks big enough to get the contents out.  Have it resealed by the embassy.

Hi. I arrived last night to the US on my K1 and I also damaged mine the day before my flight. I was also putting it into a plastic paper folder to make it more secure..irony..when it tore. Nobody at POE said anything at all. I don't know, if your tear is not big enough to look as if somebody could have been tampering with papers then you should be fine. I am sorry, I know how stressful it is.

Thank you everyone! Ive contacted my embassy and I was told to come down for enquiry. They told me that they would be holding my package for an investigation

My husbands was ripped ALL the way along one side. We went through the hassle of contacting the embassy and sending the packet back for resealing 🙄Ugh it was a nightmare. The next package also came ripped! However, the rip was not too large and it was obvious that papers could not be taken out. We really did not want to send the package back AGAIN so I called the San Francisco Homeland Security Immigration dept at the airport (SFO) and told them my worries. They gave me the number to the department that deals with people on k-1 who have some sort of an issue with their packet papers. He said people are never sent to him because of a small(ish) rip. Even those people who are missing papers turn out fine after they look into everything. We went for it and were totally fine  That rip does not look big enough to cause a problem.

Thank you for sharing your experience! When my package came, it was in perfect condition (no rips), but I guess over time there were little rips on the side because of the tape and when I was packing my luggage a couple of days ago, the small tear got caught onto my zipper and it ripped my envelope even more T____T 

 

I am going to the embassy tomorrow morning and will see what they say, will share my experience soon for everyone else!

Just an update about this:

 

I went back to the US embassy and I got my package changed on the spot! As long as you dont rip the package all the way where you can take the papers out you will be fine. Good luck everyone and I hope this helps the small tears are acceptable so we dont have to worry
