Actually, I thought the White rule was between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  I wonder what would happen if a lot of folks came to a SOTU in hunting gear in support of the 2nd Amendment?  Regardless, it just looked childish, but it was nice to see President Trump get them to give him a standing ovation right before he started talking about late term abortions.

Did it look childish at any other SOTU though? It really has been done for years. Is it okay for Melania and Tiffany to wear it? The men wear plain white shirts and pretty bland ties, I'd love to see them in something more fashion forward. Don't really care what is worn.. it's not like people turned up in yoga pants and slippers (though AOC's tank top thing vexes me!).

One lady wearing white is one thing, but one entire group of ladies of one political bent doing it means they are trying to make a statement.  I honestly hadn't noticed it before, but if the Democrat ladies have done it in the past as well, then maybe they should find something else.

why would it be restricted to women Democrats?

When the Republican Party regained control of Congress in 1919, the EqualSuffrage Amendment finally passed the House in May of that year and in the Senate in June. When the Amendment was submitted to the states, 26 of the 36 states that ratified it had Republican legislatures.

Suffrage - Women in the GOP

seems more the purview of the Republicans .....

Republican woman have also chosen to wear white.

Really it's all just political theater, which is one of those reasons the SOTU should be done away with.

exactly, but yesterday it was the democrats who chose to ascend that stage, I doubt in support of suffrage but to highlight they did not align with the president. What is sad, they could not support and celebrate things that should have resonated with them because they were too busy showing their disdain for Trump (e.g. human trafficking, minority employment, women's employment)

Omg guys I didn't know you were such fashion police. :P Little busy trying to get dinner ready but, really wearing white is a common thing... done a lot before. It's supposed to honor suffragettes who really helped get those women in congress where they are today (a record number elected and the white color helped them to stand out). Melania did it last year, others have done it before. Tiffany did it this year. Besides it's okay to wear white before Labor Day, and they all looked pretty fab (though I think AOC had a tank top under her coat oh no honey!).

And Bill.... believe it or not, there are some people that would like to see that happen and have suggested it. Fringey yes... but exists.

I had a nice SOTU free evening. Don't much care for them and think they are a waste of time and money.

Is Tiffany still singing?  I thought she was more of a one hit wonder in the 80s?

I dont see it as a big deal. I was proud Pelosi made comments to the effect of respecting the office of the President and thought she was fairly well behaved.  I also thought Trump gave a great speech and someone did a good job of keeping him conciliatory and purposeful.

As for Stacy Abrams she is nothing more thzn a race hustling poverty pimp, who has made big money off her non profits and still is in debt and a deadbeat off biblical proportions. That cant be the best the Dems have to offer.

She got her a big ole gap between her two front teeth, Reminded me of Jack O Lantern at Halloween

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Sadly so many Americans are truly ignorant of their countries history, especially the events that occurred as a result of the civil Rights protests. Nixon's racist southern southern strategy.

Whats so amazing is almost everything he is advocating was a goal of the democratic leaders a short time ago.

Reducing troop involvement oversees

Reducing Prescription drug costs

Finding a cure for aids

Reducing illegal immigration

Finding a way for dreamers to stay

Finding more legal ways for central Americans to come

Paid family leave

More women and minorities in the work force

I dont get why they are so against him

Trump will say one something one moment, and will say and something completely different two minutes later. How can anyone possibly take him seriously? I love that people think that it's okay for him to lie, because all politicians lie, don't ya know? How is that a defense?

Tiffany Trump, the forgotten daughter.

Tiffany the singer had a career still well into the 2000s.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
