Its not? The reason why you wanna buy ticket route USA-SIN-USA because  flight cost is cheaper than route SIN-USA-SIN right?

if you find any flight SIN-USA-SIN that cheaper than SIN-USA (one way) only,   you can buy it and cancel the 2nd leg (the return) after arrival in USA.

But that wont be the same flight with my fiance whos coming to sg to get me..

Uh no.  I’m pretty sure you can’t do that.  Thought you were buying a round trip ticket and using the first leg.  It’s free to ask the airline.

I wouldn't call the airline and ask, they frown upon people buying R/T's to avoid paying the higher priced one-way.

Why don't you book a R/T from SIN to US, book your outbound on your fiancees return leg to the US? Once in the US you would then cancel your US to SIN leg. You wouldn't be on the same booking as your fiancee but you could book the same flight.

Not possible. I work for an airline (and have done for almost 20 years). If the coupons (industry jargon for booked flights) are not used in sequence the remaining coupons are cancelled. So if you skip the first leg, the rest of the ticket is null and void. Unfortunately part of my job each day is to handle escalated calls from distraught passengers at airports across our network who have done just that and tried to check in to be told the ticket is no longer useable.

As others have said, just buy a one way ticket. You cannot skip the first flight - if you do then the return ticket will be cancelled. Do not call and ask the airlines as they don't like when people do this, its very frowned upon.

As others have suggested if probably won't work. But note that different travelers may get to view different pricing (dynamic pricing) which could explain why you can't find cheap round trips from Singapore but your faience can find them from USA. So ask your faience to search for same type of a flight you are trying to find.

Purchasing a One way flight is where it gets very helpful if you have award miles to use for your purchase. Like you noted one way international tickets to/from the USA are usually more expensive than a round trip ticket.

i always purchase my one way tickets using miles instead of cash but not everyone is as fortunate. Ask your fiancé to explore that option if he has a frequent flyer account.

I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,

Neither are you here to live up to mine.

I don't owe no one no obligation
So everything is fine, fine

I said, I am that I am I am, I am, I am

Exactly! Nothing worst than highlighting to an airline employee that you intend to manipulate the fare.

So can i get the same ticket? Which means i wont be using the usa to Singapore... Will this be ok.. We are just gonna cancel the usa to Singapore (for me) when the date gets closer..

Be sure to check with the airline... I think if you don't board the first flight they automatically cancel your return ticket too....

You can try to see round trip tickets from Singapore to USA for yourself if they are cheaper...

Be careful about buying non-refundable tickets in advance.  Don't buy any non-refundable travel making assumptions about dates the K1 will be approved or you risk having to eat the value of the ticket, or at the least, paying a big fee to change the ticket.  We see stories here on VJ of couples who book tickets and then the visa is not approved when they think it will be.  Knowing average fares is fine, but unless money is not a concern, most would suggest waiting until you have your passport with the visa stamped in it in your hands before making your travel plans and buying tickets.  I remember one post here on VJ a few months ago where a couple waiting on a K1 visa were so excited about being together and getting married, that they purchased non-refundable airline tickets and paid for wedding expenses to get married on a specific date months before they had the visa, and then when the visa did not come through when they had hoped, they lost thousands of dollars that they couldn't get back.
