A centenarian was being interviewed by his local TV station.  The reporter asked, "To what do you owe your longevity?"  The centenarian considered this and finally said, "Well, I guess it's because I've lived a long time, I guess."

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We do have a snowflake culture in the USA.

I will testify and you can quote me I have been around long enough, this is common in the USA and the age of the snowflake is about age 30 and below.

I was thinking about what has caused this snowflake culture.  When I was growing up, a lot more than 30 years ago, kids were treated much differently.  In my town we got home from school, hopped on our bike, and went off to do whatever with our friends.  We were gone until dinner time or dark, which ever came first.  There was usually a parent that had some idea where we were, but pretty much we were OK on our own.  If we did something very wrong, we paid the price when our father got home.

These days I see mothers hovering over their children every minute.  I wonder how these kids can ever grow up.  I see these kids in my office.  Really makes me wonder when a 15 year old comes in and mom holds their hand and strokes their head and tells them "it's OK baby, the doctor just wants to look....".  The making of another snowflake.

That is exactly what it is. they parents have raised a generation of snowflakes.  I see these kids now of day and wonder why they are so soft.

that comment of yours maybe more suitable if those institutions that did the study, had been found lying consistently about almost anything (for example, Mexico is paying for the wall, the biggest inauguration crowd and many more), you know, just like a certain someone (if that were to happen, i would not trust their study as well).

The response to this is to officiously look at their chart and mumble audibly, "Bilateral Wisdom extraction without anesthesia -- check!"

I think I lived the same life.  Can you imagine what would happen if a parent let their 5 year old walk home from Kindergarten a half mile or so now days?  Yet in some countries it is fairly regular.  I have seen children in school outfits on public transportation in Russia and Korea regularly, or walking either alone or with friends.  In this country, there is a flock of cars at the subdivision entrance awaiting a taxpayer funded bus to convey children to public school.  The comparisons are immense, but this society has become much softer with the most recent generations.  Sure there are some that are not like that, but the overwhelming feeling is that we are raising snowflakes.  I blame it on Dr. Spock.  Mrs. Maisel did a funny bit on Dr. Spock in one of the episodes.

I would guess being surrounded on every border by countries that have sworn an oath destroy your country, would make the youth of Israel less snowflake prone

I met a recent Israeli immigrant at the mall several years ago doing product demos from a kiosk.  I did not say this because she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, but when she told me where she was from, I told her how much respect most of my fellow citizens had for Israel and their steadfast strength in the face of so much aggression and hatred. She seemed to be shocked and somehow had been lead to believe most Americans did not support Israel . I told her not to believe the news, that many times fasley displayed Israel as unprovoked aggressors.   She was very grateful for the words of support.
