I would support the move if it would cut down the annoying Facebook messenger popups on my phone, the story says they are exempt.

Battery draining app. I simply never installed it.

Battery draining, privacy draining, patience draining, but Mom insists on using it.

California the great MDL empire. Odd its borderline socialist policies have it vastly approaching the economic outcomes of a 3rd world country.  2 classes wealthy  and poor

That is easy, get rid of Facebook.

Now the question is will this be just for sending a text message, or also receiving a text message?  If receiving also incurs a tax, you could drive up someone's tax bill if you wanted to and were not living in CA.

Gotta love the new creative ways socialist systems come up with to tax people. No wonder why all the productive people are leaving California. Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money. Then you have to resort to eating zoo animals.

My wife is the one that I have to talk to using it. Gosh dang she does not answer a phone call or a text but she as hell won't miss a fb message from me.

I made my wife close her FB account.  Has been the best 2 months of the past year thus far!

I wish I could but it's a free way for her to talk to family and other pinays around here.

Seriously my wife never checks her texts from anybody. It is so annoying for me.

Close FB, keep messenger.  That is also how mine talks to her family.

Also, if not familiar, WhatsApp is a MUCH better platform.  Pics and videos are sent in original quality.  Video calls are superior to messenger, IMO.

Would recipients of free cell phones and plans have been subject to the tax as well? Or just people that usually pay their own way?
