Trump’s election stunt at the border cost US taxpayers $210 million

Deploying troops to defend against a “caravan” of migrants was an election stunt all along. Now we know just how much America paid for it

What would the cost be if the US paid every single asylum seeker $50K?  Just think about how many people word-wide would flock to the US just to get "their" extortion payment.......

Last number I saw was 750,000,000, did think it was somewhat low.

The law does not provide for paying asylum seekers. It does provide for processing claims of asylum.

What if you lived in a dodgy area of say LA and wanted to flee to Canada and claim asylum, could you just ask Canada for $50k instead?

Thus, making it illegal to meet these extortionists demands.......and justifying the military response to help stop illegal entry.

The dodgy areas of LA are usually where the Illegals and Asylum seekers end up because the rest of their family is there and it's cheaper to live. But it is rifled with crime and gangs, you know the same gangs the asylum were supposedly trying to avoid.

I am glad that he did that because they helped provide manpower to help do tasks like lay concentina wire.

I have heard that from numerous different sources for weeks now. They have straight out said that "they were told that they would come up and be granted or processed for asylum ASAP" by the organizers of these caravans. So I guess the Mexican government needs to start holding the organizers and groups accountable for the well being and treatment of these people. That will bankrupt them pretty quickly.

Makes me wonder how these numbers are derived, after all if they are not defending the border what are they doing?

Deployments cost money and take away from other work.  Wasting Fuel, Resources, Mindshare and deployment capacity on a PR stunt is shameful .

These folks are also away from their homes for no practical reason. They signed up to defend their country, not provide fodder for the ticker on Fox news.
