So, my lawyer missed providing additional information in Page 11 for my previous residential address. After discussing with the lawyer, she said she would send an amendment to my petition providing the missing details.

 

Today, i got a rejection notice mail from USCIS along with the amended documents(submitted by my lawyer) and it has receipt number starting with EAC mentioning, the payment amount is incorrect, or has not been provided. My original petition has the receipt number starting with LIN.

 

Edit: My receipt number starting with LIN has status as "Case was received".

 

Question: Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fee to be submitted if an amendment is sent to the original petition? 

Your check that was submitted with your application stated what amount?

It was for $680 and it was cashed after which I received NOA stating Fee was waived and later online they updated the status to ‘Case was received’.

 

the rejection notice was sent for the amended document that my lawyer sent later. 

 

I just called USCIS and the customer service person I spoke to said looks like it was rejected because USCIS did not ask for correction and that I should ignore the rejection notice I got today with a different receipt number. 

 

I am still worried though. Hope this rejection notice won’t cause a problem

I sent out papers for my wife in the last days of December,

December 25th I think. I was delivered in two days, and on

January 2nd received email and txt msg that our case was accepted and they'll send us a letter within 7-10 days. Check was also cashed.

I called USCIS before, and just talked to them again because we haven't received that letter yet. It's been exactly three weeks now.

The guy I spoke with said he will send a request for an extension letter that we should receive in 30 days (used to be ~15 he said).

If we don't receive anything within that time, we should call back again to make an appointment to USCIS office to stamp the passport (for extension).

 

 

We still have plenty of time left till expiration, but hopefully we get that letter before green card expires.

 

Update: Forgot to mention, our case number does not work on the website, says it does not recognize the number entered. Was told that also may take up to 30+ days

If your green card has not expired you can not ask for an appointment to stamp passport, it is recommended that you only make the appointment for a week before the green card expires, I have not received the case  letter received , the only thing I received was letter for the fingerprints appointment, I am also waiting for my extension, because my GC expires in February and I need it in my work. tomorrow I will call again to see what they tell me

The place you sent your package to has nothing to do with the service centers. It is simply just were you sent your package too. Your case was then routed to Nebraska (Your case number will start with LIN) so your service center for your ROC will be Nebraska it has never been Texas. They may transfer it later in the process but as of now it has only been Nebraska.

Your statement is not accurate.  A number of people here have gotten infopass appointments to stamp passport within 30 days before green card expiration.

Yes, I was told they can/would do it withing a week before expiration. Not 30 days, still *before*

Still waiting, could be anytime soon, could take forever, sometimes they do not need another biometrics.

Well, I was waiting for Bio metrics and i called USCIS lat week, figured out they ended up using bio-metrics from my previous application. My application receipt starts with LIN. I was wondering if that has happened to anybody else as well?

We did the normal call on the day that the status page mentioned (Jan 3) because we hadn't received it yet (originally submitted on Dec 4, 2018).  Although I didn't escalate to a tier 2 person, she put in a service request like others have spoken about and on Jan 15, we received an email saying they had processed the request (it also said this on the status page).  So not bad that we received it on Jan 22.  

 

 

Hi do you mind if I ask was the I-797 you received in the mail an original one or did it look like a copy? I heard that some people who put in a SR ended up getting a copy I-797 in the mail. I was going to put in a SR as I'm still waiting on my receipt letter but I'm afraid they will just send me a copy. I have to travel overseas in a couple of months and don't want to show a border official a copy I-797 when I return. I want to try and wait out an original I797 in the mail. Thanks!

My green card was expired in Sept. of 2018, I got I-551 stamp in July of 2018 - 2 months prior my green card expiration date.

 

So it all depends on your local USCIS office - each seems to be guided by its own rules that can slightly differ from office to office. For example, about  keeping a green card - some offices take it in exchange for I-551 stamp, at the same time others - don't., and in this case you are the 'happy keeper" of both, an expired green card AND I-551 stamp.

 

but yes, most Offices would give you the stamp within 30 days before green card expiration.
